Bipper Jerking Acceleration Whistling Noise

I've got a 2014 Peugeot Bipper diesel that's giving me fits. Lately, the check engine light's been popping on, and the van feels like it's jerking when accelerating. I'm also hearing a whistling noise and a loud hissing when I put my foot down. Sometimes the engine even stalls at idle. I've noticed higher fuel consumption and a definite loss of power. After hooking it up to a diagnostics tool, it points towards a bad boost pressure sensor. I've checked the obvious stuff, like the sensor itself, but I suspect it might be the cable or plug connection. Anyone else run into similar gremlins?

Indeed, your description sounds quite familiar. I experienced almost identical symptoms with my Opel Astra, albeit a petrol version. The check engine light illuminated intermittently, accompanied by a noticeable reduction in power and unusual whistling sounds during acceleration. Although the vehicles differ, it might be useful to investigate the integrity of the air intake system, as a boost leak could explain several of your observations. Have you thoroughly inspected the intake manifold for any cracks or loose connections?

Thanks for the info. I did a quick visual check of the intake manifold, but nothing jumped out at me. Where exactly did you find the leak on your Astra, and what finally sorted it?

In my particular case, the issue stemmed from a hairline crack in the hose connecting the turbocharger to the intercooler. While visually subtle, it was sufficient to disrupt the boost pressure, leading to the aforementioned symptoms. Given the potential complexity of diagnosing such issues, especially considering the intermittent nature of the problem, I would recommend consulting with a qualified technician to perform a comprehensive inspection. Continuing to operate the vehicle in its current state could potentially exacerbate the problem and lead to more extensive damage.

Appreciate the advice. Sounds like I'm chasing a similar gremlin. I'll take it to a shop to get properly diagnosed. Turns out it was indeed the boost pressure sensor cable. They replaced it for 95€. Drives like new now!
