Bipper No Start ECU Issue

Help! My 2013 Peugeot Bipper diesel won't fire up. Engine control malfunction light is on. I've checked the basic stuff, but could bad battery cable connections really stop it completely?

Okay, 'basic stuff' could mean anything. An engine control malfunction leading to a no-start situation on a Bipper strongly suggests a deeper dive is needed. You've got an ECU issue, possibly tied to fuel injection if it's refusing to even crank over. Cable connections are a long shot usually. But, tell me, does the engine even attempt to turn over or is it totally dead? Has the engine light illuminated or has it gone out?

It's totally dead, doesn't even crank. Light has illuminated. Just want to rule out the cable connections issue first, since they're kind of crusty.

Right, dead as a dodo, eh? I hear you with the crusty cables, but a complete no-crank, coupled with that engine fault, screams something more than just surface corrosion. Yeah, clean them, it’s good practice anyway. But odds are, your issue lies deeper in the ECU or fuel injection system. You are going to be best placed heading to your local workshop to get it hooked up to the diagnostics.

You were spot on! Cleaned the connections anyway, but no luck. Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – dodgy connection to the ECU! New connector fitted and diagnostics run – 155€ and she's purring again. Thanks for the push!
