Bipper Overheating Electric Fan Issue

My 2015 Peugeot Bipper with a gasoline engine is overheating, about 92k km on it. I'm pretty sure the electric fan isn't kicking in. The wiring looks like a rat's nest. Could a dodgy connection cause this?

I have a Bipper too, and I experienced something similar. Overheating can be complex, but a faulty connection to the radiator fan motor is plausible. Is the fan not running at all, or is it intermittent? Before condemning the entire cooling system, consider having the fan motor and its relay thoroughly tested. Sometimes a simple voltage drop test across the circuit can reveal the culprit.

Intermittent is the perfect word. Sometimes it seems to run ok, but other times, like when I'm stuck in traffic, the temperature gauge creeps right up. So, when you say 'voltage drop test', is that something I can tackle with a multimeter, or am I better off leaving it to someone with more experience?

Given the intermittent nature of the fault and your understandable hesitation regarding electrical diagnostics, I would recommend seeking professional assistance. While a multimeter is a useful tool, interpreting the results in the context of the vehicle's electrical system requires expertise. A workshop will possess the diagnostic equipment and the technical knowledge to accurately pinpoint the issue and ensure the correct remedy is applied. A defective cable or plug connection of the component is the likely cause.

Turns out it was a corroded connection to the fan. 95€ later, and she's running cool. Appreciate the advice!
