Hey, that's really helpful! A broken DPF like that could be my problem too, good idea to check that. And I'll keep the point about the turbocharger in mind too - I didn't have anything like that in mind. Can you remember how much it cost when you had these problems? And have there been any other problems since then or is your Golf now running perfectly again? I'm really worried about my car... Thanks for the quick reply, really great!

Hey, sure, no problem! So, after I took my car to the garage, the problem with the defective fuel filter heater was fixed. It was a bit expensive, cost me around 380€. But since then my Golf has been running like a champ again, no more worries about the engine starting or stalling. Nothing else has happened since then, absolutely problem-free. So, get your Jetta checked out and hopefully you'll have the same luck as me! Good luck, buddy!

Hey, thanks for the info! 380 doesn't sound great, but if it solves my problem, it's certainly worth it. Your experience sounds very encouraging. I'll go to the mechanic tomorrow and hopefully everything will be fine. When everything is sorted out, I'll get back to you here. Thanks again for your help, it's really helped me. See you soon!

Servas, What you are describing could also be defective glow plugs, which is why the DPF is no longer regenerating. First read out the vehicle completely to see if an error code is stored to see in which direction it could go. direction it could go.

Hey, I had a similar case the other day. I drive a 2012 VW Golf Diesel. I had the same strange symptoms as you - my engine just stopped and took a while to start again. During my last visit to the garage, the guys discovered that the turbocharger was no longer working properly. Black smoke could indicate a broken DPF. I had to have mine replaced because of that too, it was a pretty serious problem. As for your suspicion about the fuel filter heater, I'm not entirely sure. But I would definitely take it up with the mechanic and have them point it out. And remember to always listen to your gut feeling when it comes to your car. All the best, buddy!
