Hey, thanks for the info! That's exactly what I was thinking, that it might be the boost controller. There's nothing worse than odd noises and black smoke on a Benz. Glad to hear you were able to solve the problem! Can you remember how much you paid for the repair at the garage? And has anything similar happened again since then or has everything worked fine? Many thanks for your help!

Hey, you're welcome! Yes, it was actually the boost pressure regulator that was causing me the trouble. Since I had it fixed by my mechanic, the problem with the deviation in the boost pressure control was history, so they got a really good handle on it. However, the bill was a bitter pill to swallow, I can still remember it well. The repair of the electrically defective boost pressure regulator cost me €1520. Not exactly a bargain, but my car has been running like clockwork ever since, so it was worth it. Nothing similar has happened since and the car is running great so far. So, cheer up! All is not lost yet! You're welcome! Always happy to help when it comes to car problems.

Oh dear, that is indeed a hefty sum for the repair. But if the investment is worth it, you have to accept it. Good to hear that there were no further problems afterwards. That makes me a little more optimistic about my upcoming visit to the garage. Thanks again for your advice and the detailed information. I'll have the boost pressure regulator checked out and hope that my Benz will feel a bit better afterwards. This has really helped me! Thank you very much and see you next time!

Your symptoms sound as if it could actually be the boost pressure regulator. I had a similar problem once with my 2011 E-Class diesel. It made loud noises, black smoke came out and the engine lost power - just like yours. In my case, the boost pressure regulator was electrically defective. At the workshop, they replaced the boost pressure regulator and checked the lines for leaks. After that, everything ran smoothly again. There was quite a bit going on in the workshop - not an easy job, but nothing to worry about. So, depending on what the mechanic finds, you may have to replace the boost pressure regulator. Maybe it's just a gasket that needs replacing or there's a slight leak somewhere. It's best to have it checked. Hope that helps you!
