Black smoke and loss of power in Peugeot 307 petrol engine: suspected defective injection valve
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The issue involves a Peugeot 307 petrol engine from 2009 experiencing black smoke from the exhaust, a lit check engine light, rough running, and loss of power. The owner suspects a faulty injection valve. Another participant shared a similar experience with their Peugeot 308, where the problem was a plug/cable connection issue, not a faulty fuel injector. The solution was to replace the faulty connection, which resolved the issues. Another participant with a Peugeot 308SW 1.6 HDi had an error code P0263 and was advised that cylinder 1 is typically located on the timing belt side. They were also advised to clear the error code after replacing the injector.

Hi, thanks for your reply! That sounds really promising. Can you remember what you paid for the repair back then? And has anything similar or different occurred since then? It would be great if you remember!

Hey, sure, no problem. The repair cost me €155 at the time. They fixed the fault with the plug/cable connection and that was it. Since then, my car has been running really well. And as far as the injection valve is concerned: after the mechanic had a look over it, there was no more problem. So far, nothing similar or different has happened, everything is perfect! Keep your fingers crossed that it works just as well for you!

Great, thank you! That reassures me a little. 155 is really not as bad as I feared. I really hope it's the same for me as it is for you. I'm off to the mechanic now to have my car checked. Thanks again, your advice has helped me a lot!

Hi, I have error code P0263 cylinder 1 on a Peugeot 308SW 1.6 HDi 82KW and would like to replace the injector first. My question, is cylinder 1 on the timing belt side (left, passenger side) or on the other side? Many thanks in advance

On a Peugeot 308SW 1.6 HDi, cylinder 1 is typically located on the timing belt side (left, passenger side). However, it's always a good idea to confirm this with your vehicle's specific manual or a trusted mechanic. After replacing the injector, please clear the error code and observe if the issue persists. Let us know how it goes. Do you have any other questions?

Hello, thanks for the information. I wanted to replace the injector but I now have a different problem. After the replacement, the injector must be coded, but unfortunately Carly does not show me a selection for coding for this vehicle. What can I do now?

Hi. Had similar symptoms on my 2012 Peugeot 308, was pretty sure it was a faulty fuel injector but the mechanic found it was actually a plug/cable connection issue. They had to replace it and after it was done, my car ran like a dream. It wasn't as serious as I originally thought and I haven't had any more problems with it. So see if it could be that for you too! Good luck with that!
