Hey, that's right, I actually had to change the filter. The whole thing cost me around €1550, which was quite a bit of money, wasn't it? But since the visit to the mechanic, the problems have been solved. The defect in my diesel particulate filter was fixed and I haven't had any more problems since. The engine is running smoothly again and the car is behaving decently. All in all, despite the cost, I'm glad it's done. Hopefully this will help you with your decision!

Oh dear! 1550 € is quite a lot of wood. But it's reassuring to hear that everything is back to normal and no further problems have arisen. I think I'll take my car to a mechanic too. Would rather sort it all out now than get into more trouble later. Really, thanks for the testimonials, that helped me a lot!

I drive a 2020 Ford KUGA ecobleu 2.0 hybrid, imported from Germany in 2021. Bought this car in August 2023.Last August 2023 a new particulate filter was fitted because it would not be approved for RDW because this filter was broken. 2 months ago the engine malfunction light came on and straight back to the seller (not a Ford dealer). Turned out to be a sensor in the exhaust that was fouled. Problem gone. After 6 weeks the light came on again but went out on its own after a few days. Car had to be inspected again this August and now the particulate filter is faulty again after 16000 km! It will be replaced under warranty at the Ford dealer. Also the sensor that indicated the first fault will be replaced. I hope this will not become a yearly recurring thing because in the long run it will cost a lot of money. Question is whether this happens more often? The car regularly makes trips of more than 100 km in a row.

Hello, Normally this should not happen after such a short time. My guess would be that the sensor was already damaged when the filter was installed and as a result the measured values were not correct. And this is why the filter broke down so quickly.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my 2017 Ford Mondeo. It was definitely the diesel particulate filter. It was the same for me: black smoke, check engine light, the engine was running rough, and the DPF regeneration error came up. And yes, the fuel consumption was also too high. Last time at the garage, the guys had to completely replace the filter because it was broken inside - and that's a more serious matter, not a simple fix. There's not much you can do about it, the filter has to be replaced. Hope that helps you a bit!
