Black Smoke & Power Loss: Proudia Exhaust Issues

Thanks! My Proudia has 112542 KM on the clock, and I just had it serviced last month. Haven't scanned for codes yet, but your lambda sensor tip sounds spot on with what I'm experiencing. I'll definitely get it checked out ASAP, don't want to risk any bigger issues. Any recommendations for a good OBD scanner I could use before heading to the shop?

Hey again! Glad to help further with your Proudia issue. You know, after fixing my Pajero's lambda sensor, I actually invested in an OBD scanner myself, best decision ever! I got the BlueDriver Bluetooth Professional OBDII Scanner, and it's been super reliable. It connects to your phone through an app and gives really detailed readings. Cost me about $100, but it's already paid for itself by helping me diagnose small issues before they become bigger problems. Quick heads up though, when I first had my lambda sensor issue, I initially tried using a cheaper $20 scanner from Amazon, but it didn't give me the specific codes I needed for my Mitsubishi. The BlueDriver actually showed me the exact sensor that was faulty (P0135 code in my case). Since your mileage is pretty close to what mine was when I had the issue (I was at about 108,000 KM), and you've got similar symptoms, I'm even more convinced it's probably the same problem. Just remember that when you scan it, you might get multiple codes, mine threw out three different ones, but they were all related to the oxygen sensor issue. Let me know what codes you get when you scan it, I might be able to help interpret them since I've been down this road before with my Pajero!

Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I just ordered the BlueDriver scanner you recommended, should arrive tomorrow. Really appreciate you sharing your experience with the cheaper scanners too, saved me from wasting money there. It's actually pretty reassuring to hear that your Pajero had such similar symptoms at around the same mileage. Makes me feel better knowing it might just be the lambda sensor and not something more serious. I'll scan it as soon as the scanner arrives and share the codes with you. Really appreciate all your help with this, it's great to get advice from someone who's actually dealt with the same issue. I'll make sure to book it in at the shop next week, don't want to risk driving it too much in this condition. Thanks again!

Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with last year. It turned out one of the lambda sensors was shot, causing all those problems, black smoke, power loss, and that nasty exhaust smell. I took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it pretty quickly with their diagnostic tool. The whole thing, including parts and labor, set me back about 375 Euro, but it was worth it, car's been running like new since then. Before I can give you more specific advice, Have you scanned for error codes? How many miles/km on your Proudia? When was your last service? By the way, those symptoms can be serious if left unchecked, so I'd recommend getting it looked at soon.
