Thanks so much for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Really helpful to know it turned out to be the injectors in your case. Do you remember roughly what you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey again! Great to hear back from you! Yes, after getting it fixed at my mechanic, my Cayman S has been running perfectly, no more issues at all. The faulty injector was definitely the culprit, and they sorted it out for €515. It was money well spent because the car's been performing like a dream since then. I can totally relate to your situation, those symptoms are super frustrating! But once they fixed the defective injector and cleaned everything up, it was like having a different car. No more black smoke, no jerking, and the power delivery is back to what you'd expect from a Porsche. If you're wondering about the repair experience, it was worth every penny. The specialist knew exactly what they were doing, and you really need that Porsche expertise for these kinds of issues. Let me know if you want my mechanic's details, they really did a fantastic job, and I can't recommend them enough. Take care!

Thanks a lot for all the details! I actually went ahead and took your advice about finding a Porsche specialist. Found a really good one about 30 minutes from my place, and I'm so glad I did! Just got my car back yesterday, and you were spot on, it was definitely the injectors. Had two bad ones that needed replacing, plus they did a thorough fuel system cleaning. Ended up costing me around €1,100 for everything, but honestly, the difference is night and day! No more black smoke, engine's running smooth as silk, and the power's back to normal. The mechanic was super professional too, walked me through everything they found and even showed me the old injectors. Really different experience from my last mechanic, that's for sure! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it really helped point me in the right direction. The car's purring like a kitten now, and I couldn't be happier with the result! Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there, I had very similar issues with my '07 Porsche Cayman S last year. The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced, black smoke, rough running, and power loss. Turned out to be two faulty injectors that were internally defective. Took it to a Porsche specialist and they diagnosed it with their diagnostic tool. They had to remove the intake manifold to access and replace the injectors. It was quite a serious job because bad injectors can cause damage to the catalytic converter if left unchecked for too long. They also cleaned the fuel system while they were at it. The repair took about two days, but it was worth it. The car runs like new now, smooth idle, proper power delivery, and no more smoke. I'd definitely recommend finding a specialized Porsche mechanic for this kind of work. The injectors need to be coded properly to the ECU after replacement. If you're in the area, I can recommend my current mechanic. They really know their P-cars inside out. Best of luck!
