BMAX DPF Pressure Too Low
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Ford BMAX diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, intermittent smoke during acceleration, and a strange exhaust smell, with a warning light indicating low DPF exhaust pressure. When you had a similar issue with your BMAX, did it also cause reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration? What symptoms did you see, and did you do any tests to confirm the exhaust back pressure sensor was bad?

Yep, all the same symptoms. Loss of power, smoke, the works. I didn't investigate myself, just took it to a workshop. It was the back pressure sensor, like we suspected. For the cost of the part and labor, it was worth avoiding the headache of doing it myself.

Thanks for confirming the likely cause. I'll book an appointment at a workshop to check and fix the exhaust back pressure sensor. Your insights have sped up the diagnosis and clarified what to do. I expect the repair to cost around 245€.

Sounds like the exact same problem I had with my BMAX. That warning light is frustrating! Low pressure in the DPF? Did you check the sensor itself for damage or a loose connection before replacing parts?
