BMAX Engine Smoke and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Ford BMAX with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, reduced engine power, and smoke during acceleration. The problem is suspected to be related to the crankcase ventilation valve. A similar case suggested that a defective crankcase ventilation could be the cause, and it was recommended to have a professional mechanic address the issue. The problem was confirmed to be the crankcase ventilation valve, which was subsequently repaired.

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't spotted any visible leaks. But where exactly should I be looking around the ventilation system? Is it something I can easily check myself or is it better to just take it to a mechanic?

Honestly, based on my experience and similar symptoms, and the fact that you're seeing smoke, it's likely a defective crankcase ventilation. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. Saved me a lot of hassle.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I'll take it to a trusted mechanic. Seems like a job better left to the professionals, especially with the smoke issue. I will post what the issue and costs are once I have it resolved. It was indeed the crankcase ventilation valve. Cost me about 360€ to get it fixed.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I have a BMAX too (not sure about the year), and I had similar symptoms last year - check engine light, loss of power, and some smoke. Did you check for any obvious leaks?
