BMW 2 Series Knock Sensor Issues & Performance Drop

Hi everyone! I'm dealing with some frustrating issues with my 2014 BMW 2 Series (121k km, gasoline engine) and need your input before heading to the mechanic. My check engine light is on, and the car's been running rough with weak acceleration and burning more fuel than usual. I suspect it might be a faulty knock sensor. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? I'd appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and costs, especially after a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic. Thanks in advance for your help!

Summary of the thread

The initial problem with the 2014 BMW 2 Series involved a check engine light, rough running, weak acceleration, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause was a faulty knock sensor. However, after visiting the mechanic, the issues were traced to multiple problems, including the fuel injection system and a worn-out oxygen sensor. The repairs, though more complex and costly than anticipated, resolved the performance issues, resulting in improved acceleration and fuel efficiency.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the coil pack and spark plug connection. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that hassle too. My symptoms do sound pretty similar to what you described. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repairs? Also, just curious, have you had any other related issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Thanks for the update! I actually just got back from the mechanic yesterday and wanted to share what happened. It was quite an experience! The problem turned out to be more complex than expected, had multiple issues with the fuel injection system and a worn-out oxygen sensor. The mechanic walked me through everything and showed me the damaged parts. The repair took longer than anticipated, but I'm glad I got it sorted. The car's running much better now, no more sluggish acceleration or rough idling. Fuel consumption has improved significantly too. Had to pay more than I initially hoped, but at least the problem's fixed properly this time. Really appreciate your help and input earlier. It gave me a better idea of what to expect and helped me ask the right questions at the shop. Fingers crossed it stays running smoothly now!
