BMW 3 Hybrid Misfiring: Help with Rough Engine Issues

Hey there! I'm having trouble with my 2015 BMW 3 Hybrid. The engine's running rough, throttle response is weak, and it jerks during acceleration. The check engine light is also on. I suspect it might be related to combustion misfires. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would be great to hear about your repair experiences and what the fix was. Let me know what your mechanic found and how they resolved it.

Hey! I have some experience working on cars, and I actually faced something very similar with my 2013 BMW 5 Series Hybrid last year. Like you, I had rough engine performance and jerking issues. Turned out I had a faulty injector. The workshop diagnosed it quickly, replaced the defective injection valve, and it cost me around 515 Euro. Since the repair, my car's been running smoothly, no more jerking or weak acceleration. By the way, I also own a BMW X5, but the Hybrid has been my daily driver. Could you share if you're getting any specific error codes? Also, how many miles/kilometers has your car done? This info would help me understand if you're dealing with the same issue I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I've got 139274 KM on the clock, and just had my service last month. After reading your reply, I'm thinking it might indeed be the injector system. The symptoms you described match exactly what I'm experiencing. Did you notice any specific fuel consumption changes before the issue became obvious? And did you try any temporary fixes before taking it to the workshop? Really appreciate the help here, trying to gather as much info as possible before heading to the mechanic.

Hey again! Yeah, actually I noticed my fuel consumption went up about 15-20% before the injector completely failed. Looking back, that was probably an early warning sign I should've paid more attention to. I did try a few temporary fixes before taking it to the workshop, big mistake on my part! I tried using fuel injector cleaner additives and premium fuel, thinking it might help clear any deposits. Didn't make any difference, and honestly, I probably just wasted money and time trying these quick fixes. With the mileage you mentioned (mine was around 145000 KM when it happened), it's definitely in the range where injector issues commonly pop up in these hybrids. I learned the hard way that it's better to just get it checked out properly as soon as these symptoms show up. The longer you wait, the more strain you're putting on other engine components. By the way, when you mentioned your recent service, did they do any fuel system cleaning? My mechanic told me later that regular fuel system maintenance could've prevented my injector failure. Might be worth asking about that when you take it in. Let me know how it goes with the mechanic. Really curious if it turns out to be the same issue I had!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! No, they didn't do any fuel system cleaning during my last service, definitely kicking myself about that now. Really good to know about your experience with those temporary fixes too, you just saved me from wasting money on fuel additives! I've noticed exactly the same fuel consumption increase you mentioned, probably around 17% more than usual. I've already called my mechanic and booked it in for tomorrow morning. You're right about not waiting, don't want to risk damaging anything else. Thanks for all your help with this. It's super reassuring to hear from someone who's dealt with the same problem. I'll probably skip trying any quick fixes and just let the professionals handle it. Will definitely make sure they check those injectors first thing! I'll be sure to update you once I know what the actual problem is.
