Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with right now. Really helpful to know it was the torque converter in your case. Do you remember roughly how much the whole repair set you back? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Just want to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if I should expect any follow-up problems. Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! Glad I could help earlier! Yeah, I actually just got it all sorted out last month, the mechanic confirmed it was definitely the Automatic transmission torque converter lock-up clutch causing all those issues. The total bill came to 2120 € including parts, labor, and the transmission fluid flush. The good news is that since getting it fixed, my 530e has been running absolutely perfect. Shifts are silky smooth now, no more warning lights, and all that nasty grinding is completely gone. It honestly feels like a different car! Haven't had a single issue pop up since the repair, and I've put quite a few kilometers on it already. Trust me, even though the repair cost was pretty steep, it was totally worth it to get the car back to proper working order. If you're seeing the same symptoms I had, I'd say bite the bullet and get it done. The longer you wait, the more damage you might be risking to the rest of the transmission. Just make sure you go to a shop that really knows their way around BMW hybrids, it makes a big difference! Feel free to ask if you need any other details about the repair. Always happy to help another BMW owner out!

Thanks so much for breaking down the costs and sharing your after-repair experience! This really helps me make a decision. I actually just got back from a mechanic today who specializes in European cars. You were right about the torque converter, that's exactly what they diagnosed. The repair quote was similar to what you paid, around 2000€. Theyaged to squeeze me in next week for the repair. Honestly, after hearing how well your car's running since getting it fixed, I feel much better about spending the money. Was getting worried I'd need a whole new transmission, so this is actually a relief! The mechanic seemed really knowledgeable about BMWs and showed me exactly what was causing the problem. They'll do the fluid flush too, just like in your case. Can't wait to get my car back to normal, this limping around has been driving me crazy! Thanks again for all your help. It's been super reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing and got it sorted out successfully.

Hey! I can relate to your situation. I had similar symptoms with my 2016 BMW 530e Hybrid last winter. Started with rough shifts and grinding, then progressed to limp mode with warning lights, just like you're describing. Turned out my torque converter was indeed failing. The lock-up clutch was worn out, causing transmission fluid contamination. It's definitely a serious issue that needs immediate attention since it can lead to complete transmission failure if left unfixed. When I took it to the garage, they had to remove the transmission to replace the torque converter assembly. The job took about three days in total. They also did a complete transmission fluid flush since metal particles from the failing converter had contaminated the old fluid. Since the repair, my car's been shifting smooth as butter. No more warning lights or strange noises. Just make sure you get it checked soon, driving in limp mode with these symptoms isn't good for your transmission.
