BMW 4 Series Convertible problems with the navigation system screen

Hey everyone, my 2015 BMW 4 Series with a diesel engine and 217,654 km on the odometer is causing me concern. The navigation system has failed, I suspect a problem with the display. Didn't have a good experience at my last garage visit, so I'm asking here: Has anyone had similar problems? What was your experience with the mechanic? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2017 BMW 3 Series. In my case, the cable connection between the control unit and the display was defective, which caused a poor connection. My mechanic checked the connections and found that some cables and connectors were corroded. These were replaced and the system recalibrated. This was a more serious matter, but it worked perfectly after the repair. Best regards!

Hey, sounds like exactly what I could do. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for it? And were there any other problems afterwards? Best regards!

Hey, sure, I can help you with that. It was similar for me, and after the mechanic came, I no longer had any problems with the navigation system. It turned out that the cable connection between the control unit and the display was actually defective, which caused the screen to fail. The repair cost me exactly €165. The mechanic replaced the defective cable connections and made sure that everything was properly reconnected. Since then, everything has been working perfectly again. Hope this helps you! Best regards!

Hey, your answer definitely helps me! I think I will have my BMW checked by another mechanic to hopefully have a better experience this time. 165€ sounds acceptable if the problem is really fixed afterwards. Thanks for the detailed information! Best regards!

Hello, it sounds to me as if you have had a problem with the navigation system's processing unit for some time.

I can only agree with Benny, that sounds more like a defect in the navigation computer.

Hi, so there is no real problem with me, I just installed a new screen in my BMW E60 520d built in 2009 and I have to say it is really an alternative, I now have CarPlay and can still use all the old functions.
