That's really helpful to know about the wiring harness issue! Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise. Also, have you had any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting it fixed?

Hey again! Yeah, I can totally update you on that. I actually just got this fixed last week, cost me 95 € for the repair, which wasn't as bad as I initially feared. The mechanic found a faulty cable connection to the tilt sensor, got that sorted out, and now the system's working like a charm. The best part? No more unusual alarm episodes! I was getting pretty tired of those early morning surprises, but since the repair, everything's been rock solid. And nope, haven't seen any other electrical issues pop up, the car's running perfectly. Honestly, it was worth every penny to get it properly diagnosed and fixed by someone who knew what they were doing. These security systems can be finicky, but once you get the right mechanic on the job, it's usually a straightforward fix. If you're still shopping around for a mechanic, make sure they've got proper BMW certification, makes a huge difference when they're dealing with these specialized systems.

Thanks for all that info! So I actually went ahead and got it fixed yesterday. Like you said, finding a certified BMW specialist made all the difference. My repair was a bit pricier, ended up paying around 150 € because they had to replace both the sensor and some wiring. The mechanic walked me through everything they found and even showed me the worn-out parts. You were spot on about the wiring being the culprit. Turns out some previous work had damaged a few connections, which explained the unusual alarms. Had a test drive last night and this morning, and for the first time in weeks, no surprise alarms! Such a relief not having to worry about disturbing everyone at odd hours anymore. Really glad I asked here first, saved me from going back to that sketchy shop that probably would've made things worse. Sometimes paying a bit more for someone who actually knows what they're doing is totally worth it. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW 4 Series last winter. The alarm would out of nowhere trigger, especially during early mornings. After avoiding the dealership initially, I finally took it to a certified BMW mechanic who diagnosed it properly. Turned out the wiring harness connecting to the tilt sensor had corroded, causing intermittent connection issues. The connectors needed cleaning and one cable required replacement. Not a major repair, but definitely needed a professional touch because it's connected to the car's security system. My mechanic showed me the corroded parts, and it made sense why the system was acting erratically. Since the fix, no more unusual alarms, and the system works perfectly. If your tilt sensor is showing in the error codes, I'd really suggest getting it checked by a certified BMW technician. These security systems are quite complex, and improper repairs can lead to more issues down the line.
