Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm relieved to hear it wasn't something more serious. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues popping up? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what might come next.

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! Yes, I got it fixed last week and everything's working perfectly now, no more crazy angles or warning lights! Ended up costing me 1040 € to replace the defective servomotor in the headlight. Might sound a bit steep, but honestly, it's worth every penny for proper visibility at night. Since the repair, my headlights are working like new, they're properly aligned and the auto-leveling is smooth as butter. No other issues have cropped up, which is a relief. The mechanic mentioned these servomotors usually last quite a while once replaced, so hopefully won't be seeing this problem again anytime soon. Really glad I could help! Always nice when you can solve an issue based on someone else's experience. If you end up getting it fixed, let us know how it goes. These BMWs can be tricky sometimes, but they're great cars when everything's running right. Take care!

Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and got it fixed yesterday. You were spot on about everything, it was the servomotor just like in your case. My repair came in a bit cheaper at 890 €, probably because my model's a bit older. The mechanic I found was really straight with me, even showed me the old part and explained what went wrong. What a difference it makes though! Drove home last night and it felt like I had a completely different car. The lights are perfectly aligned now, no more warning lights on the dash, and the auto-leveling works smoothly. Can't believe I put up with those wonky headlights for so long! Thanks again for sharing your experience. Really helped me make the decision to get it sorted instead of putting it off. Good to know these fixes tend to last too, definitely makes the cost easier to swallow. Think I've found myself a reliable mechanic in the process, so that's an extra bonus! Take care, and thanks for all the help!

Hey there! I had the exact same issue on my 2016 BMW 5 Series 520d last winter. The headlight leveling system was acting up, showing similar symptoms, misaligned beams and warning lights. Turned out the servomotor in the headlight assembly was defective. After diagnosis at the garage, they found the servomotor had seized up, which is a fairly common issue as these parts age. I got it fixed by replacing the faulty servomotor unit. The job itself isn't too complex, took them about 2 hours to complete. It's not a major mechanical issue, but it needs attention since it affects your visibility and could get you in trouble with road regulations. Based on my experience, I'd recommend getting it checked soon. The symptoms won't improve on their own, and driving with misaligned headlights isn't safe. Make sure they test both servomotors since sometimes they fail in pairs. Hope this helps with your decision.
