BMW 6 Washer Nozzle Heating Issues, Fix Needed

Hey, same troubles with my 6 diesel a while back! That wiring harness issue you described sounds exactly like what I dealt with. They found corrosion in my connector points too. Got it sorted at a specialist shop and it's been working fine since. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up?

Hey there! Glad to hear you got yours fixed too. I went ahead and had mine repaired last week, turned out it was just a faulty cable connection to the washer heater unit, nothing too major. The whole thing cost me 95€, which wasn't as bad as I expected given it was at a BMW specialist. Everything's working perfectly now, nozzles are spraying just right and no more temperature issues. The error code's completely gone too. Honestly, it was worth every penny because driving with dodgy washers in bad weather was really starting to stress me out. Haven't noticed any other electrical issues since the repair. My 5 diesel's been running like a charm. From what the mechanic told me, catching these connector problems early is key to preventing bigger electrical headaches down the road. Glad we both got this sorted! Let me know if you notice anything else unusual with yours, always good to compare notes on these things.

Thanks for the update! Your repair cost seems pretty reasonable compared to mine, I ended up paying quite a bit more, around 180€. They found some additional wear in my system that needed fixing. Funny story actually, when I took it to the mechanic, they initially couldn't figure out what was wrong. Had the car up on the lift for a good hour before they spotted the corroded wiring. The mechanic was pretty excited to show me the damaged bits, he kept saying how lucky I was to catch it before it caused bigger problems! Been about three weeks since the fix now, and everything's working perfectly. No more error codes, and the washers are spraying like new. Such a relief not having to worry about visibility issues anymore. Definitely learned my lesson about getting these things checked out sooner rather than later. Thanks again for sharing your experience, really helped confirm I made the right call getting it fixed!

Had the same issue with my 2017 BMW 5 diesel last winter. The washer heater system showed similar symptoms, inconsistent spraying and temperature-related failures. Error codes kept popping up on the dash. Took it to the garage, turned out the wiring harness to the washer heater unit was damaged, causing intermittent connection issues. The cable insulation had deteriorated, and there was corrosion at the connector points. They had to replace the entire wiring harness and the heater control module. Not a catastrophic problem, but definitely something that needs fixing before it causes more serious electrical issues. The repair took about 4 hours. My car had lower mileage (around 140k km) when this happened. Would suggest getting it checked soon, faulty washer heaters can lead to visibility issues, especially in challenging weather conditions. Look for a garage that specializes in BMW electrical systems.
