Oh wow, thanks for sharing that! I had such similar trouble with my 6er. It's really interesting that it was the pedal module in your case, that's super helpful to know. Do you remember roughly what you ended up paying for the whole fix? Also, just curious if you've had any other little issues pop up since they did the repair? I'm trying to figure out if I should budget for other potential problems while I'm at it.

Hey there! Following up on your questions. The total repair bill came to 205 € for fixing the pedal module, and honestly, it was worth every penny. Since getting it sorted, my 540i has been running like a dream, no more jerking or hesitation when I hit the gas! To answer your other question, nope, haven't had a single issue pop up since the repair was done. The car feels just like it did when I first got it. The throttle response is crisp, fuel economy is back to normal, and those annoying cold start problems are completely gone. My advice? While you're having it checked out, maybe get them to do a general inspection just for peace of mind, but I really doubt you'll need any other major repairs. The symptoms you described are textbook pedal module problems. Fixing that one component should sort everything out, just like it did for me. Just make sure your mechanic properly diagnoses it first, don't let them start replacing parts without running the full diagnostic checks. Better to spend a bit more time on diagnosis than waste money replacing the wrong parts.

Thanks for all the detailed info! Just got back from the mechanic today and wanted to update you. Turned out you were spot on, it was indeed the pedal module causing all the trouble. They ran a complete diagnostic and found the same sensor issues you mentioned. The repair cost was a bit higher than yours, but getting it fixed was totally worth it. My car's running amazing now, no more jerking or delayed response. The cold starts are smooth, and I can already tell the fuel consumption is getting better. They did a quick overall check while it was in the shop, and everything else looked good. Really glad I asked here before going in, helped me avoid getting pushed into unnecessary repairs. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It definitely made the whole process less stressful knowing what to expect!

I had nearly identical issues with my 2014 BMW 540i last month. The symptoms matched yours perfectly, delayed throttle response, jerky acceleration, and terrible fuel economy. The problem turned out to be a defective accelerator pedal module, not the throttle valve. The diagnostic showed error codes related to the pedal position sensor. Since the module wasn't sending correct signals to the ECU, the car couldn't properly regulate fuel delivery. The repair was pretty serious since it affected basic drivability and safety. They had to replace the entire pedal module assembly. The car runs like new now, smooth acceleration, normal fuel consumption, and no more cold start issues. Quick tip: Make sure they check both the pedal module and throttle body sensors before replacing parts. My mechanic first thought it was just the throttle valve, but proper diagnostics revealed the real culprit.
