Thanks for sharing your experience! My 4 Series just hit 27516 KM and had its last service a month ago. No, I haven't tried deleting paired devices yet, that's a good suggestion. It's the luxury trim with all the tech packages. The odd thing is this started happening right after I got it back from regular maintenance, though they didn't mention doing anything with the infotainment system. Might have to give your solution a try, the reset and recalibration sounds promising. Did you need any special diagnostic tools for that, or can a regular BMW workshop handle it?

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up since we have such similar experiences. On my 3 Series, I actually noticed the same thing, problems started after routine maintenance. In my case, I suspected they might have done a software update during service that didn't quite settle right. For the reset and recalibration, any certified BMW workshop can handle it, they have the right diagnostic tools. I took mine to my regular shop, but make sure they have experience with iDrive systems. My mechanic mentioned it's a pretty common issue with our generation of BMWs. Quick tip though, before heading to the workshop, try this: disconnect your car battery for about 15 minutes. This worked temporarily for me and might save you a trip. Also, check if your phone's software is up to date, my old phone was causing some of the connection issues. If the battery disconnect doesn't help, definitely get it checked out professionally. The module recalibration they did on mine has held up great for the past year. Just make sure they document everything in case the problem comes back. Let me know how it goes, curious if your 4 Series responds the same way mine did!

Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! I'll definitely try the battery disconnect trick first, that's a brilliant suggestion I wouldn't have thought of. My phone's running the latest software, so that's probably not the culprit. I've got a trusted BMW workshop nearby, so if the battery reset doesn't work, I'll take it in and ask specifically about the module recalibration you mentioned. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's super helpful knowing someone else dealt with the same issue and got it sorted. The fact that yours has been working great for a year is encouraging. I'll give these fixes a try and might update you later on how it went. Thanks again for all the help!

Hi there! I have some experience working on cars, and funny enough, I had a similar issue with my 2012 BMW 3 Series Diesel (though I also worked on a 5 Series). The symptoms were exactly like yours, Bluetooth going crazy, dropped connections, the whole deal. Turned out the Bluetooth module needed to be re-paired and recalibrated. My mechanic did a full reset of the infotainment system and re-initialized the Bluetooth connections. Cost me 45 Euro and took about an hour, but it's been working perfectly since. Before jumping to solutions though, could you tell me if you've tried deleting all paired devices and doing a basic reset? Also, which trim level is your 4 Series? The systems can vary a bit between models, and knowing the exact specs would help me give better advice. Feel free to share more details, and I'll try to help further!
