Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also curious if you've had any other electrical gremlins pop up since they fixed the wiring harness? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what might be coming.

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, actually, my case turned out way simpler than I initially thought! After taking it to the mechanic last week, they found it was just a faulty cable connection to the climate control panel. Nothing as complex as a full harness replacement was needed. They sorted it out in about an hour, and it only set me back 95 €. The panel's working perfectly now, no more flashing lights or temperature control issues. Since you asked about other electrical problems, nope, haven't had any other issues pop up since the fix. The car's running smooth as silk. Makes me feel a bit silly for worrying it might've been something major like I mentioned in my first reply! Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one, I guess. My advice would be to get it checked out, might turn out to be something equally straightforward for you too. These BMWs can be tricky, but they're not always as complicated as we fear. Let me know how it goes if you get it looked at!

Thank you so much for the update! Just got back from the mechanic myself, and you were right about getting it checked out. Turned out my issue was actually with the blower motor resistor, it was completely shot. The repair was pretty straightforward, took about two hours, and cost €180 for parts and labor. The mechanic I found was really great, totally different from my last experience. He showed me the faulty part and explained everything clearly. The climate control's working perfectly now, no more flashing lights, and I've got full control over the temperature again. Funny how we both worried it might be something major! Really appreciate you coming back to share your experience. It definitely gave me the push I needed to get it sorted. The car feels like new again, and I'm so relieved it wasn't the expensive nightmare I was imagining. Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2016 BMW 5 Series Hybrid last winter. The climate control panel was acting up just like yours, flashing display, no control over airflow, and inconsistent temperature. Took it to the garage and it turned out the main control module's wiring harness was damaged, with several loose connections. The technician found that moisture had gotten into the connector, causing corrosion at the terminal points. It wasn't just a simple plug-and-play fix, they had to replace the entire wiring harness and recalibrate the system. It was definitely a serious issue since the climate control is integrated with other electronic systems in these BMWs. The repair took about 6 hours to complete. In my case, a complete harness replacement was necessary because attempting to repair individual wires would've been risky for long-term reliability. Based on your symptoms, it sounds very similar to what I experienced. I'd recommend getting it checked soon since these issues can affect other electrical components if left unaddressed. Hope this helps with your decision.
