Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful. Those door sensor problems can be such a headache. Sounds like we had nearly identical issues. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks?

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up and let you know that since I had my car fixed, everything's been working perfectly fine, no more annoying door warnings or lock issues! The mechanic found it was exactly what they suspected: a faulty door contact signal caused by a damaged cable connection. The total bill came to 95 € for fixing the cable and plug connection. Honestly, it was worth every penny just to get rid of those constant warning signals on my dash! The repair has held up great, and I haven't had a single problem with the doors or locks since then. The auto-lock while driving works perfectly now too. It's such a relief when you find someone who can diagnose and fix these electronic gremlins properly. My advice would be to definitely get it sorted, these kinds of issues tend to get more annoying over time if you leave them. Plus, it's nice not having to worry about whether your car's actually locked when you walk away from it!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually took your advice and got it fixed yesterday. Funny enough, my issue was pretty similar, damaged wiring in the driver's door that was messing with the sensors. The mechanic I found was really thorough and showed me exactly what was wrong. They charged me a bit more than what you paid, around 150 € total, since they had to replace a larger section of the wiring harness. But honestly, it was totally worth it. The relief of not hearing those constant warning chimes is amazing! Can't believe I put up with it for so long. The best part is everything's working perfectly now, doors lock and unlock smoothly, no more unusual warnings, and the auto-lock while driving is back to normal. Such a weight off my mind! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it helped me know what to expect and gave me confidence to get it sorted properly.

I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW 3 Series last summer. Same symptoms, door locks going crazy and getting those annoying door-open warnings. Took it to my regular mechanic, turned out it was a faulty wiring connection in the door harness that was causing the sensor malfunction. The problem started small but got worse over time. The cable insulation had worn down from constant door movement, causing intermittent connection issues. They had to replace part of the wiring harness and recalibrate the door control module. It wasn't a major mechanical issue, but definitely needed fixing since it affects the car's safety systems. For me, the repair took about half a day at the shop. I'd recommend getting it checked soon, these sensor issues usually don't fix themselves and can lead to bigger problems with the central locking system. Best to have a certified BMW technician look at it since they'll have the right diagnostic tools.
