Thanks for your detailed response! Just had my service done last month at 25408 KM, and everything was fine then. The unevenness started about a week ago and doesn't change while driving. Getting error code P1B9A consistently. Haven't had any suspension work done recently, it's been all routine maintenance so far. Would definitely appreciate more details about your repair experience, especially wondering if this is something covered under warranty since the symptoms are exactly as you described.

Hey again! Since we both have BMWs, let me share more about my experience with this exact issue. That error code P1B9A, yep, that's exactly what I was getting too. And just like yours, my unevenness was constant while driving. The fact that it started suddenly without any prior suspension work makes me even more convinced it's the same problem I had with my height sensor control rod. About the warranty, I was just outside mine when this happened, which is why I had to pay. But since your i3 is a 2018 model, you might still be covered. I'd strongly suggest checking your warranty status. BMWs typically have a 4-year/50,000 warranty, so you could be in luck. The repair itself was pretty straightforward in my case. My mechanic had it done in about 2 hours. They basically disconnected the old control rod, calibrated the new one, and ran a system diagnostic to clear the error codes. The car leveled out perfectly after that, and those annoying warning lights disappeared. Quick heads up though, make sure they check the entire height control system while they're at it. In my case, they found some minor wear on the connecting points, but nothing serious enough to need replacement. Better to catch any related issues early. Let me know how it goes with your warranty check. If you need any more specific details about the repair, just ask!

Thanks so much for all this info, it's exactly what I needed! Just checked my warranty paperwork and looks like I'm still covered (thankfully). Already called my dealer and booked it in for next week. They mentioned the height sensor control rod right away when I described the symptoms, so you were spot on. Really appreciate you sharing your repair experience, helps knowing what to expect. Good tip about checking the whole system too, I'll make sure to mention that when I drop it off. I'll update you once it's fixed. Thanks again for taking the time to help out!

Hey! Some experience with BMWs here. I had a very similar issue with my 2016 BMW i8 Hybrid last year. The symptoms you're describing ring a bell, my car was also sitting uneven and throwing sensor errors. Turned out the control rod on the height sensor was defective. Took it to my regular workshop, they diagnosed it pretty quickly, and replaced the part. Cost me around 110 Euro, but it fixed all the issues, leveling, lights, everything. Before you go ahead with repairs though, could you share: Any specific error codes you're getting? Does the unevenness change when driving? Have you had any recent suspension work done? If you want, I can share more specific details about the repair process. Also, considering you have an i3, the setup might be slightly different from my i8, but the core systems are pretty similar.
