Thanks for sharing that info about your i8! I'm relieved to hear it wasn't something more serious. The wiring harness issue sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. Mind if I ask how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? Just want to make sure I have an idea of what I'm getting into and that it actually solves the problem long-term. Thanks again for your help!

Hey there! Glad I can help with an update about my i8 repair. Just to put your mind at ease, yes, everything has been working perfectly since I had it fixed! The whole turn signal issue was sorted out completely, and I haven't seen a single warning light since. The repair was actually pretty straightforward once they identified the problem. Ended up costing me 95 € to fix the cable connection that was causing all the trouble. It's such a relief when these things turn out to be simpler than you expect, right? My mechanic mentioned these connection issues are fairly common in hybrid BMWs as they age. Just needed someone who knew what they were looking for to diagnose it properly. Honestly, it was worth every cent to have it done right. The car feels like new again, and I'm not constantly worrying about those annoying warning lights anymore. If your issue is similar, you should be back on the road without any problems pretty quickly!

Thanks so much for the detailed update! I finally took my i3 to get checked out yesterday, and you were absolutely right. It was indeed a wiring issue, though mine was a bit more extensive. Had to shell out more than you did, around 150, but honestly, it was totally worth it. The mechanic I found was fantastic. They spotted the problem right away and showed me exactly where the wiring had worn out. Took them about 4 hours to fix everything, but now my car's running like a dream. No more unusual warning lights, and the turn signals are working perfectly. It's such a relief to have this sorted! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the confidence to get it checked out instead of putting it off and potentially making things worse. Funny how these BMW hybrids seem to have similar quirks, but at least it wasn't anything major like I initially feared. Thanks again for all your help!

I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW i8 Hybrid last month. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, unusual warning lights and turn signal malfunctions. Had it checked at the garage and it turned out to be a faulty connection in the main wiring harness that connects to the Body Control Module. The cables had worn out and weren't making proper contact. This isn't actually a major repair, but it needs someone who knows what they're looking for since these symptoms can be misdiagnosed as more serious electronic issues. For my i8, they had to disassemble part of the dash, replace a section of the wiring harness, and recalibrate the system. Took about half a day to fix. It wasn't a serious mechanical issue, but definitely something that needed proper attention from someone who knows hybrid BMWs. Just make sure whoever looks at it has experience with BMW hybrid systems, they're quite different from standard cars.
