Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful as I'm dealing with the same nightmare right now. The air in the brake lines explanation makes a lot of sense, I was worried it might be something way more serious. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Would love to know if I should be prepared for any follow-up issues. These hybrid brake systems really are something else, right? Kind of makes me miss old-school brakes sometimes.

Hey again! Happy to give you an update. I went to see a certified BMW tech last week and you'll be glad to know it was exactly what I suspected, just air in the brake lines causing the pressure sensor to act up. Total bill came to 90 € for the complete system bleed and reset. Pretty reasonable considering all the specialized equipment they needed to use. Everything's been running perfectly since the fix, brakes feel solid again, no more warning lights, and that annoying pump noise is completely gone. No other issues have popped up, so you should be good once you get yours sorted. And yeah, these hybrid braking systems are definitely more complex than traditional ones! But honestly, once they're working properly, the regenerative braking is pretty amazing. Though I do get what you mean about missing the simplicity of conventional brakes sometimes. Trust me, you'll feel so much better once you get this sorted. Just make sure you go to someone who really knows their way around hybrid systems. It makes all the difference.

Thanks for the follow-up! I actually went ahead and got it fixed yesterday. what a relief! Found this great mechanic who really knew his stuff about hybrid systems. Funny enough, it was exactly what you mentioned, trapped air in the brake lines. Cost me a bit more than yours though, around 120 € because they had to do some extra diagnostic work. But totally worth it! The brakes feel amazing now, like brand new. No more scary warning lights or that weird pump noise that was driving me nuts. You're absolutely right about finding someone who knows these systems. The mechanic explained everything so clearly, even showed me what they were doing. Such a different experience from my last garage nightmare. Thanks again for helping me understand what I was dealing with. Really saved me from stressing out too much about it. These hybrids might be complex, but at least we've got each other's backs in figuring them out!

Had a similar issue with my 2015 BMW i3 Hybrid last month. The symptoms you're describing match exactly what I experienced, weak brake pedal, warning lights, and that distinct hydraulic pump noise. Turned out the brake system was bled incorrectly during routine maintenance. Air got trapped in the brake lines, which messed with the booster pressure sensor readings. The mechanic had to do a complete system re-bleed using proper BMW diagnostic equipment to get all the air out and reset the sensors. This is actually a serious safety concern that needs immediate attention. When I went through this, my car was at the shop for two days. They had to run multiple pressure tests and use specialized diagnostic tools to make sure everything was working correctly. Best to have this checked by a certified BMW technician who knows these hybrid systems well. The brake system in these cars is more complex than conventional vehicles due to the regenerative braking setup.
