BMW iX Electrical Issues: Nav Dead & Warning Lights On

Hey there! I had some experience with electrical issues on my 2021 BMW i4 (and previously owned an i3). I'd say I have low experience with EVs, just the basics really. Had a similar warning pop up a few months ago, total system blackout with the nav dead. Turned out it was indeed the Transport Mode that hadn't been properly deactivated during delivery. Took it to the dealership, and since my car was still under warranty, they fixed it at no cost. Just needed a software reset to fully activate all systems. To help you better, could you share: How many miles/kilometers on your iX? Did this happen suddenly or was there any warning? Have you recently had any software updates? Let me know these details and I might be able to share more relevant info from my experience!

Thanks for your response! Currently at 23235 KM and just had my latest service last month. This issue started completely out of the blue while I was driving home. No recent software updates that I'm aware of, it just suddenly popped up on the display. Your experience with the Transport Mode issue sounds very similar to what I'm dealing with. I'll definitely get it checked at the service center, especially since it's still under warranty. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's reassuring to know there might be a straightforward fix!

Hey again! Thanks for those details, this is definitely ringing more bells now. When it happened to my i4, I was around the 20K mark too, and it was just as sudden. The similarity in our situations is pretty striking! Just to add to my previous experience, after that initial Transport Mode fix I mentioned, I actually had a similar warning pop up again about two months later. But interestingly, that second time it was due to a different issue, turned out to be a minor glitch in the car's central computer system. The dealer did a complete system reboot and recalibration, and I haven't had any problems since. Since you mentioned having recent service work done, there's a chance they might have inadvertently triggered something during the routine checks. These modern BMWs are super sensitive to any electronic tweaks. My service advisor told me that even something as simple as disconnecting the battery for maintenance can sometimes cause these systems to act up. I'd definitely get it to the dealer ASAP, better safe than sorry with these electrical gremlins. Let us know what they find! I'm really curious if it's the same Transport Mode issue I had or something else entirely.

Thanks so much for the additional info! That's really interesting about the second warning you got, I'll definitely mention both scenarios to my dealer when I take it in. Makes me feel better knowing these quirks aren't uncommon with our cars. I've already scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning, and since you mentioned the battery connection thing, I'll ask them to check if anything might have been disturbed during my recent service. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences in detail. It's exactly what I was hoping for when I posted my question. I'll update here once I get it sorted out, might help someone else dealing with similar issues down the line. Always good to know I'm not the only one navigating these high-tech quirks! Thanks again for your help!
