Thanks for sharing your experience! That really helps narrow down what I'm dealing with. The symptoms match exactly what I've got going on. I'm relieved to hear it wasn't something more serious with the electrical system. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been working properly since the fix? I just want to make sure I have a good idea of what I'm getting into before I book it in somewhere.

Hey again! Happy to update you. Yes, the total came to 1040 € for the repair, it was mostly the cost of that servomotor unit that made it pricey. But I can tell you it was worth every penny because the headlights have been working perfectly since the fix. Not a single problem in the headlight range control system after they sorted it out. I was actually just thinking about your situation the other day when I was driving at night and remembered how annoying that misaligned beam was. It's such a relief to have it working properly now. The mechanic really knew what they were doing with the BMW systems, and the calibration was spot-on. If you're still shopping around for a repair shop, just make sure they've got experience with BMW's electrical systems. The diagnostic equipment they need isn't cheap, so not every shop will have it. Let me know how it goes when you get it fixed. Always curious to hear if others have the same experience with the repair. Cheers!

Thanks so much for the follow-up! I actually just got back from getting it fixed today. You were spot on about everything, it was indeed the servomotor unit. Found a really good BMW specialist who knew exactly what they were doing. The total came to about 980 €, slightly less than what you paid, which was a nice surprise! The whole process was smoother than I expected. They had it done in about 2.5 hours, and the difference is like night and day. The headlights are perfectly aligned now, and that annoying warning light is finally gone. The mechanic also showed me what the faulty part looked like, pretty interesting to see what was causing all that trouble. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. The night driving experience is so much better now. Thanks again for all your help, your advice really gave me the confidence to get this sorted. Sometimes it just takes someone else's experience to point you in the right direction! Take care!

Hey there! I actually had the exact same issue with my 2020 BMW i4 last month. The servomotor in the headlight adjustment system failed, causing misaligned beams and throwing error codes. The symptoms were identical to what you're describing. At the garage, they diagnosed a defective headlight leveling motor. It was a straightforward fix but needed specialized diagnostic equipment. The repair involved replacing the servomotor unit and recalibrating the entire headlight system. While not a critical safety issue if addressed promptly, it can become dangerous if left unfixed since proper beam alignment is crucial for night driving. The job took about 2 hours, and I'd recommend going to a shop that specializes in BMW electrical systems. They'll need to use the right diagnostic tools to properly recalibrate everything after the repair. Hope this helps with your decision. Best of luck
