Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm thinking it's probably the same issue since our symptoms match up perfectly. Been wanting to get this fixed but was worried about getting ripped off again. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey again! Happy to help update you. Yeah, I actually just got this fixed last week, it only cost me 45€ for the Bluetooth module reprogramming. Pretty reasonable considering how annoying the problem was! The mechanic sorted out the incorrect pairing issue, and since then, everything's been working like a charm. No more function restrictions or connectivity problems at all. I've been using my phone constantly with the car over the past week, making calls, streaming music, the works, and haven't had a single problem. It's like having a brand new system again. Trust me, it's worth getting it sorted by a proper technician who knows these electric BMWs. Such a relief not having to deal with those frustrating connection drops anymore. No other quirks have shown up since the fix. The whole infotainment system is running smoother than ever. Honestly, I'm just kicking myself for not getting it sorted sooner, would've saved myself a lot of headaches!

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you! You were spot on about everything. Took it to a certified BMW shop and they found the exact same issue with the Bluetooth module. Cost me around the same as what you paid, which was such a relief after my last mechanic quoted me way more for "diagnostic tests." The technician was super helpful and explained everything clearly. They did the complete system reset and firmware update, and wow, what a difference! My phone's connecting perfectly now, no more dropped calls, and the whole system feels way more responsive. Had it for a few days now and everything's working flawlessly. Can finally enjoy my music and calls without constant interruptions. Really appreciate your advice, saved me from going down another expensive repair rabbit hole. Sometimes the simplest solution really is the best one! And you're right, should've done this way sooner. Been dealing with this headache for months when it could've been fixed in just a few hours. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I had the exact same issue with my 2019 BMW i3s. Initially thought it was my phone, but turned out to be a software glitch in the head unit. Last month, the garage diagnosed it as a corrupted Bluetooth module that needed reprogramming and updating. They had to do a complete reset of the iDrive system and reinstall the latest firmware. The technician mentioned this is actually a known problem in some BMW electric models when the Bluetooth module loses sync with the main system. The fix wasn't too complex, but it did require specialized diagnostic equipment. Not a major mechanical issue, but definitely needed professional attention. Since the repair, all connectivity features have been working perfectly, no more dropped calls or pairing issues. Based on your symptoms, sounds very similar to what I experienced. Would recommend having a certified BMW technician look at it, as generic shops might not have the right diagnostic tools for these electric models.
