Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the wiring harness issue. I was worried it might be something more serious. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it? Really appreciate your input on this.

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, yes, everything's been working perfectly since I got it fixed! The mirror heating and auto-dimming features are back to normal, just like when the car was new. The total repair cost was 95 € to fix the cable/plug connection. It turned out to be a simpler fix than what I initially had with my i3s, they didn't need to replace the entire wiring harness after all. The mechanic found it was just a loose connection that needed proper reseating and weatherproofing. Much cheaper than I expected, honestly! It's been about three weeks now since the repair, and I've had zero issues. The mirror heating kicks in perfectly when needed, and the auto-dimming works great during night driving. Definitely worth getting it sorted, these small electrical issues can be a real pain if left unchecked. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair. Always happy to help a fellow BMW owner!

Thanks for the detailed follow-up! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. Turns out my issue was similar but slightly different, had a blown fuse and some corroded wiring that needed replacement. The whole thing cost me 120 € and took about two hours to fix. The mechanic I found was really thorough and even showed me exactly what was causing the problem. Much better experience than my last repair shop! The mirrors are working perfectly now, both the heating and auto-dimming. Such a relief to have it sorted without breaking the bank. Really glad I asked here first, helped me know what to expect and not get overcharged. I'll definitely keep this mechanic's contact for future issues. Thanks again for all your help and advice!

Hey there! I had this exact same issue with my 2019 BMW i3s last month. The mirror heating and auto-dimming stopped working suddenly. The problem turned out to be a faulty wiring connection between the mirror control module and the main harness. The technician found that moisture had gotten into one of the connectors, causing corrosion. They had to replace the entire wiring harness for that section and recalibrate the mirror control module. It wasn't a particularly serious issue, but it needed proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact problem. The repair took about 3 hours total. While they had it open, they also applied some additional waterproofing to prevent future moisture issues. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked soon, leaving it could potentially lead to more extensive electrical problems down the line. Make sure whoever looks at it has experience with BMW electrical systems and the right diagnostic tools. These mirror modules are quite sensitive in the newer electric models. Hope this helps with your decision.
