Thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. I'm gonna get it checked out this week, those symptoms seem too similar to ignore. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other brake-related issues pop up?

Hey again! Glad to help with an update. After seeing your question about the costs, I paid 480 € for the whole brake job, which included replacing the pads and resurfacing the rotors. The good news is everything's been working perfectly since then, including fixing that low brake fluid warning that was freaking me out initially. The brake pedal feels nice and firm now, way better than that scary spongy feeling I had before. I've put another 20K km on the car since the repair, and honestly, it's been smooth sailing, no warning lights or weird brake behavior. The regenerative braking is also working just like it should. Just one tip, since getting it fixed, I've been more careful about getting regular brake fluid checks during maintenance. Rather not go through that whole stress again! If you're getting yours looked at this week, you're definitely making the right call. These electric BMWs are amazing cars, but when they tell you something's wrong with the brakes, it's best to listen.

I just got back from the mechanic, and wow, what a relief! You were spot on about getting it checked quickly. Turns out my issue was pretty similar, worn brake pads and contaminated fluid. The mechanic showed me how the pads were almost completely worn down. Pretty scary when I think about it! The total repair came to about 520 €, a bit more than what you paid, but they also found and fixed a small sensor issue. They got it all done in one day, which was great. Just took it for a test drive, and the difference is like night and day. The brake pedal feels solid again, and those annoying warning lights are gone. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it helped me make the decision to get it checked right away instead of putting it off. Better safe than sorry when it comes to brakes, right? Now I'll definitely be keeping up with those regular brake fluid checks too.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW iX3 last season. The brake pedal felt spongy and inconsistent, and I got the same warning lights. Turned out my brake pads were severely worn, and the rotors needed resurfacing. The brake fluid was also contaminated with moisture, which affected the pedal feel. Got it checked at the dealership, it was quite serious since worn brakes can lead to complete brake failure. They had to replace all brake pads, resurface the rotors, and flush the brake system. My car had around 95K km when this happened. Don't wait on this one, brake issues aren't something to postpone. With your mileage, it's likely time for a brake service anyway. The iX2's regenerative braking system also needs proper inspection since it works together with the conventional brakes. Best to get it checked at a certified BMW service center, especially since these electric models have specific brake system requirements.
