BMW iX2 Keyless Entry Failure Baffles Multiple Owners

Hey everyone! Having trouble with my 2024 BMW iX2 (11,671 KM). The keyless entry system suddenly stopped working, and the car's throwing error codes related to open-circuit current. My previous mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Anyone else experienced similar issues with their door handle electronics? I'm suspecting it's more than just a dead battery since multiple systems seem affected. Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and recommendations for fixing this issue, especially from other iX2 owners. Thanks in advance!

Had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW iX3. The keyless entry failed completely, and I got those same open-circuit warnings. Turned out the main door handle sensor connector had corroded and partially detached. Took it to a certified BMW shop last month. They had to disassemble the door panel and replace the entire handle assembly unit because the wiring harness was compromised. Not a quick fix, they kept the car for two days. It was covered under warranty since it was a manufacturing defect in the weatherproofing seal. Since your iX2 is newer, could be the same issue. These electronic door systems are pretty complex, definitely not something you want a general mechanic messing with. Worth getting it checked at a dealer who knows these systems. Not a cheap repair if you're out of warranty, but it's crucial since it affects multiple security systems. Hope this helps with your decision.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the door handle issue! That's really helpful to know about the corroded connector, sounds exactly like what I might be dealing with. I've been wondering about taking it to the dealer, and your feedback makes me feel better about going that route. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much the repair would've cost if it wasn't under warranty? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? Want to make sure I won't be back at the shop in another month with the same problem.

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up about my previous iX3 door handle situation. The repair has been absolutely perfect since I got it fixed, no more keyless entry headaches at all! To answer your question about costs, if it hadn't been under warranty, I would have been looking at significantly more than what I actually ended up paying. The dealer just charged me 95 € to fix what turned out to be a faulty cable connection in the component. Much simpler (and cheaper!) than the complete handle assembly replacement I initially thought I needed. The best part is that everything's been working flawlessly for weeks now. No more error messages, the keyless entry responds instantly, and all the security systems are functioning perfectly. Honestly, getting it sorted at the dealer was the right call, they knew exactly what they were looking for and fixed it properly the first time. If your issue is similar to what I experienced, you might be looking at a similar straightforward fix. These systems can seem complicated, but sometimes it's just a basic connection problem that needs sorting out.

Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you all! Took your advice and went to a certified shop. They found the issue pretty quickly, turns out my problem was similar but slightly different. Had a damaged wire in the door handle that was causing all the trouble. The repair took about three hours and cost me around €300. Not as bad as I was expecting, honestly. The mechanic showed me the damaged part and explained everything clearly. Really appreciate the recommendation to go with a certified shop, they definitely knew what they were doing. Everything's working perfectly now. The keyless entry responds like new, and all those annoying error codes have disappeared. Such a relief to have this sorted! Thanks again for helping me make the right call on this. Sometimes paying a bit more for quality service is totally worth it. Now I can finally use my car without constantly checking if the door will lock properly. What a difference a proper repair makes!
