Thanks for sharing your experience! Super helpful to know about the cable harness issue, sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks with the climate system?

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up since I saw your questions. After getting it fixed last month, I ended up paying 95 € for the repair, mainly for sorting out that faulty cable connection to the ventilation flap. Pretty reasonable considering all the hassle it was causing! And I'm happy to report everything's been working perfectly since then. The rear ventilation is responding like new, and the whole climate control system is running smoothly. No more error codes or weird behavior. It was definitely worth getting it sorted by a proper mechanic who knew what they were doing with these EV systems. Actually feel a bit silly now for putting it off as long as I did, it was a much simpler fix than I expected. The technician mentioned these connection issues are fairly common in our model, so at least we're not alone in dealing with it! Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed, would be interested to hear if it turns out to be the same issue.

Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took my car to a certified EV mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was indeed a connection problem, though mine needed a full replacement of the control module. Ended up being pricier than yours at about 350€, but totally worth it. The mechanic was great, really took the time to explain everything. They had it fixed in about 3 hours, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The AC is blowing nice and cold again, and the rear vents are working perfectly. Such a relief to have it sorted! Funny thing, while I was there, another iX3 owner came in with the exact same issue. Seems like it's quite a common problem with these models. Really appreciate your advice about getting it checked by someone who knows EVs. Definitely saved me from making another costly mistake with my old mechanic. The whole experience turned out way better than expected. Thanks again for pushing me in the right direction!

Had the same problem with my 2020 BMW iX. Turned out to be a faulty connection in the climate control module. The ventilation flaps weren't responding due to a disconnected cable harness. Got it fixed at the garage last month, they had to disassemble part of the dash to access the control unit. The main issue was corrosion on the connector pins, which disrupted the signals to the flap motors. They cleaned the connections, replaced a damaged plug, and recalibrated the system. It was actually a serious problem because leaving it unfixed could've led to moisture buildup in the cabin. Plus, driving without proper ventilation in an electric vehicle isn't great for battery temperature management. The repair took about 4 hours, and I've had zero issues since. Make sure whoever works on it has experience with EV climate systems, they're quite different from regular cars.
