BMW iX3 Climate Control System Failure Diagnostic Help

Had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW i3. The climate control system showed the same symptoms, unresponsive controls and error messages. Initially thought it was a sensor, but when I took it to the garage last month, turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the climate control module. The connector had worked itself loose over time and was causing intermittent failures. The fix wasn't particularly complex, they had to remove some trim panels to access the module, clean the connections, and secure them properly. Not a serious issue, but definitely something that needed professional attention since it involves working with the car's electrical system. The symptoms you're describing sound identical to what I experienced. Given that the iX3 uses similar climate control architecture, I'd recommend getting it checked soon. Better to address it early before it potentially affects other systems. These cars have sophisticated electronics, so proper diagnosis is crucial.

Hey there, I had the exact same problem you described with my iX3! Really glad you mentioned this because it took me back to when I dealt with it. That loose connector diagnosis was spot on for me too. They fixed it by cleaning and reseating the connections properly, just like what happened with that i3. Can't remember exactly what the final bill came to though, do you recall how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? My climate control has been perfect after the repair, but I'm always curious to hear how it worked out for others.

Hey! Glad to help follow up about the BMW i3 climate control issue. Yes, since getting it fixed at the mechanic, everything's been working perfectly! The faulty interior temp sensor was exactly what caused all those annoying error messages and control problems. The total repair bill came to 95 €, mainly for fixing that dodgy cable connection to the sensor. Pretty reasonable considering how much hassle it was causing. The mechanic just had to clean up the connections and make sure everything was properly secured. The climate control's been spot-on ever since, no more error messages or temperature control glitches. Really happy I got it sorted when I did. These electrical gremlins can be a pain, but once you find the right fix, they're usually gone for good. Definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and repaired rather than trying to live with it!

Thanks for the info about the repair cost! I finally took my car to the mechanic last week. The repair itself was pretty straightforward, just like you said, they found that loose connection and fixed it right up. My bill was actually a bit less, around 80 bucks for the whole thing. The funny part was sitting in the waiting room, stressing about what might be wrong, only to find out it was such a simple fix! The mechanic was really great though. He showed me exactly what was wrong and even gave me some tips about preventive maintenance for the future. I've put about 500 km on the car since then, and the climate control's working perfectly. No more error messages, and I can actually set the temperature without the system going crazy. Such a relief to have it sorted, definitely should have done it sooner instead of worrying about it for so long. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped push me to get it checked out!
