Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. Pretty much the exact same thing happened with my M2, the sensor going crazy and all that. Definitely sounds like we had identical issues. I'm planning to get it fixed soon and was wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it, or have you had any other problems pop up? Really appreciate the help!

Hey again! Glad I can give you a proper update on this! After getting it sorted last year, I can happily say the active hood system has been working perfectly, not a single problem since the repair. The warning light hasn't shown up again, which is a massive relief. The total bill came to 315€ for fixing the faulty acceleration sensor. Honestly, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. The mechanic actually showed me the corroded sensor they pulled out, it was in pretty rough shape! The two-day wait was a bit annoying, but they did a thorough job with the calibration. I'd definitely recommend getting it sorted soon, you don't want to risk any unusual deployments while driving. Feel free to ask if you need any other details about the repair. It's been about a year now, and the car's running like a dream!

Thanks so much for all the details! Really helpful info about the cost and timeframe. After reading your experience, I decided to take action and got it fixed at a certified shop last week. Just wanted to update you on how it went. The mechanic found the same issue, corroded sensor and damaged wiring. The repair cost was actually pretty close to what you paid, around 330€. They had it for three days total, but did a really thorough job. The best part? No more warning lights or error messages! The system's working perfectly now. You were right about getting it done by specialists, they really knew their stuff and walked me through everything they did. Thanks again for helping me make this decision. It's such a relief to have this sorted out properly. The car's running great now!

Hey there! I had a similar issue on my 2015 M4 last year. The acceleration sensor for the active hood system was acting up, triggering false deployments. Initially, it just showed the warning light, but eventually, the system thought it needed to deploy. Got it checked at the garage, and turns out the sensor was defective due to moisture getting into the wiring harness. They had to replace both the sensor and part of the wiring. It was quite a serious fix since it's a safety system, can't really drive around with a faulty active hood that might deploy out of nowhere. The repair took about two days because they needed to reset and calibrate the entire system after replacing the parts. These active safety systems are pretty complex and need proper diagnostic equipment to get them working correctly again. Make sure whoever works on it knows BMW safety systems well, not something you want a general mechanic messing with. Best of luck with the repair.
