Hey there! I had a very similar issue on my 2016 BMW M4 last year. The symptoms were exactly like yours, lights had a mind of their own, and the low beam was stuck on. Turned out it was more than just the switch, it was a faulty connection in the footwell module that controls various lighting functions. The repair involved replacing the footwell module and recoding it to the car. It wasn't a quick fix since they had to diagnose the exact problem first, but it wasn't super serious either. They also found some corroded wiring that needed attention. I'd definitely suggest getting it checked soon though, as electrical issues can get worse over time. From what I learned at the garage, these lighting problems are somewhat common in this generation of BMWs when they get higher mileage. Best of luck sorting it out.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was the footwell module in your case. If you don't mind me asking, what did the repair end up costing you? Also, has everything been working properly since the fix? Just want to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if it's a lasting solution. My M2 is pretty much my daily driver, so I need to get this sorted quickly.

Hey again! Just to update you, actually, in my case, it turned out to be simpler than the footwell module issue I initially thought it was. Took it to the mechanic and they found it was just a faulty light switch with a bad cable connection. Got it fixed for 95 €, which was way less than I expected! Much better outcome than my first guess about the footwell module. The lights have been working perfectly since the repair, no more crazy light show or stuck beams. It's such a relief having everything working properly again. I totally get your concern about needing it fixed quickly for daily driving. The good news is, if it's the same issue as mine, it's a pretty straightforward fix. My car's been running like a charm for months now with no lighting problems whatsoever. Let me know how it goes with yours! Always good to share experiences with fellow BMW owners.

Thanks so much for the follow-up! Just got back from the mechanic myself. You won't believe it, my issue was almost identical to yours! Had a faulty switch and some worn-out wiring that needed replacing. The repair was pretty quick and didn't break the bank either. Got it all sorted yesterday and took it for a night drive to test everything out. All the lights are working perfectly now, no more stuck beams or unusual flashing. Such a relief! The mechanic also checked the rest of the electrical system just to be safe, and everything else looks good. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it checked out. Definitely feeling better about my M2 now, and it's great to know I can drive it any time without worrying about the lights acting up. Really appreciate all your help with this!
