Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since our issues sound identical. Good to know it was just the IBS, I was worried it might be something more serious. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the repair? Also, has everything been working fine since the fix?

Hi again! Yes, absolutely, I went ahead and got it fixed right after our last chat. The total came to 315 € for replacing the Intelligent Battery Sensor, and I can tell you it was worth every penny. Since the repair, everything's been running perfectly, no more warning lights, no flickering, and the car starts like a charm every time. It's such a relief not seeing those battery discharge warnings anymore! The mechanic confirmed what I suspected, the old sensor was giving false readings, which was making the car's computer go crazy. Just to give you peace of mind, it's been about two weeks since the fix, and I haven't had a single issue with the electrical system. If you're still having the same problems, I'd definitely recommend getting the IBS checked out. The repair was pretty quick too, had my car back the same day. Much better than dealing with all those annoying symptoms or risking more serious electrical issues down the line!

Just wanted to update you all, I finally got my car fixed today! After your advice, I went to a new mechanic who specializes in BMW electronics. You were spot on, it was indeed the Intelligent Battery Sensor causing all the trouble. The repair process was pretty smooth actually. They diagnosed it quickly and had everything sorted in about an hour and a half. Cost me a bit more than yours, 350 € total, but hey, at least the problem's fixed! The mechanic showed me the old sensor and explained how it was messing with the readings. Took it for a drive afterward, and what a difference! No more warning lights, the starts are strong again, and those annoying flickering lights are gone. Such a relief to have this sorted. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, saved me from probably spending way more at my old mechanic who probably would've replaced the entire battery system! Case closed on this one. Feels great to have a properly working car again!

Hey! I had almost identical issues with my 2013 BMW M4. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, battery discharge warnings, sluggish starts, and those annoying flickering lights. Took it to the garage last week, and turns out the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) was failing. The sensor wasn't correctly reading the battery's charge state, causing the car's power management system to malfunction. They had to replace both the sensor and its wiring harness. It wasn't a super serious repair, but definitely not something you want to ignore. If left unchecked, it can drain your battery completely and potentially damage other electrical components. The fix was pretty straightforward, took about an hour for them to diagnose and replace everything. Just make sure whoever works on it knows BMW electrical systems well. These sensors are pretty specific to BMW's power management system.
