Thanks for sharing your experience! My X1 is at 136222 KM and had its last service about 3 months ago. Nothing was done to the front end recently, which makes this issue even more puzzling. Did your mechanic need to order special parts for the repair? Also curious about the repair time, was your car in the shop for long? Really appreciate any insights you can share about the actual repair process.

Hey again! Glad to help share more details about my experience with this issue. In my case, my mechanic did have to order the acceleration sensor specifically for the BMW, it wasn't something they kept in stock. The part took about 3 days to arrive, but the actual repair only took around 2-3 hours once they had everything they needed. It's interesting that yours started showing these warnings without any recent front work. Mine was similar, just popped up out of nowhere. The mechanic explained that these sensors can sometimes fail due to age and normal wear and tear, even without any obvious trauma or damage. The repair process itself was pretty straightforward. They first did a complete diagnostic scan to confirm it was the sensor, then replaced it and reset the system. They also had to recalibrate the active hood system after the repair, which is apparently a crucial step. Since your mileage is pretty close to what mine was when this happened (I was at about 142,000 KM), it could very well be the same issue. The good news is that once it's fixed, it should be good to go, I haven't had any issues since the repair last year. Just make sure whoever works on it has experience with BMW safety systems. Would be happy to share more specific details about what to expect during the repair if you need them!

Thanks so much for all this detailed information! It's really helpful to know what I might be in for. I'll definitely get it checked out this week, better safe than sorry with these safety systems. Good to hear it's potentially just a sensor issue and not something more serious. I'll make sure to ask my mechanic about their experience with BMW systems, and I'll prepare for possibly waiting a few days for parts. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience in such detail. Feels much better going into the repair knowing what to expect! I'll probably reach out again to let you know if it turns out to be the same issue as yours.

Hi there! I have some experience with BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2011 BMW X3 last year. The active hood and airbag warnings can be quite concerning. When it happened to me, I took it to my regular workshop where they diagnosed a faulty acceleration sensor that was triggering false readings for the active hood system. The total repair cost me 315 Euro, but it solved both warning lights. What's your current mileage? Also, have you had any recent front-end work done? These details would help me share more relevant info from my experience. Just a heads up, don't ignore these warnings as they're part of the safety system. I'd recommend having it checked soon since a malfunctioning active hood system could affect pedestrian safety features. Let me know those details and I can tell you more about what to expect during the repair process.
