Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! You're right, it definitely sounds similar to what I'm going through. I ended up getting my problem looked at too, and the mechanic also found some wiring issues. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Always good to know what to watch out for with these electrical gremlins in BMWs!

Hey again! Glad you got it checked out! Actually, my repair turned out pretty well in the end, the wiring issue was sorted and they found it was indeed the solar sensor fault, just like you suspected. Only cost me 95€ to fix since it was just a dodgy cable connection to the sensor. Much cheaper than I initially feared! Everything's been working perfectly since then, the climate control's back to normal and no more warning lights. Such a relief! These BMWs can be tricky with their electronics, but once you get the actual problem sorted, they're usually fine. My repair was definitely cheaper than yours by the sound of it, probably because they caught it before any other components were affected. This is actually a pretty common issue with these models, guess we both learned that the hard way! Been about 8 months now since the fix, and no other quirks have shown up. The auto AC works like a charm again. Just keep an eye on those warning lights, they're annoying but they do help catch issues before they get worse!

Thanks for the update! Yeah, my repair ended up being pricier, around 300 bucks. The mechanic I found was actually really good. Fixed both the wiring and replaced a faulty control module. Took about 3 hours total, but at least they were thorough. Funny story, while I was waiting, they showed me exactly what was wrong. Turns out a bunch of wires had gotten corroded from some water that leaked in through a bad seal. No wonder the system was going crazy! The mechanic even took pictures to show me the before and after. Been about two weeks since the fix, and everything's working perfectly now. The AC blows nice and cold, heating's back to normal, and that annoying warning light is finally gone. Guess sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and get things fixed properly. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Thanks again for helping me make the decision to get it checked out. These BMWs might be fancy, but they sure let you know when something's not right!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW X3 last winter. The symptoms were almost identical, climate control went haywire and the warning light came on. Took it to the garage and it turned out the connection cable to the AC control module was loose and corroded. The mechanic also found that the blower motor resistor was failing. The fix wasn't too complex, they replaced the wiring harness and the resistor. While not a major repair, it's definitely something you want to address soon since climate control issues can indicate electrical problems that might affect other systems. I'd recommend getting it checked soon, faulty climate control in BMWs often points to electrical gremlins rather than sensor issues. In my case, catching it early prevented more serious electrical problems down the line. Hope this helps with your decision!
