Hey, thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's exactly what I'm dealing with, super annoying with those false warnings. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working fine since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks? Would really appreciate knowing what to expect cost-wise before I take it in. My local mechanic can be a bit unpredictable with pricing sometimes!

Hey again! Great news, I can actually help with exact costs since I just got this fixed! The repair cost me 95 € to fix the faulty cable connection, and I'm happy to report it's been working perfectly since then. Honestly, such a relief not having those annoying false warnings popping up anymore! The mechanic found it was just a damaged connection in one of the door contact sensors, way simpler than I initially feared. They sorted out the cable/plug connection and everything's been spot-on since the repair. The central locking works like a charm now, and I haven't seen a single false door warning. I know you mentioned having some not-great experiences with mechanics before, but this repair was straightforward and the price was reasonable. Definitely worth getting it sorted, it's no fun constantly dealing with those phantom door warnings and locking issues! Let me know how it goes when you get yours fixed!

Hey! I really appreciate all your help! Just wanted to update you on what happened. Finally got my car checked out yesterday. Turns out my issue was pretty similar, faulty wiring in the front door sensor. The mechanic was actually great this time! They found the problem quickly and fixed it within a couple of hours. Cost was a bit higher than yours at 150€, but they also had to replace some corroded parts. Money well spent though, no more unusual warning lights, and the central locking is working perfectly again. Such a relief not having to double-check the doors every time I park! Really glad I asked here before going in. Made me feel more confident about what to expect and helped me explain the issue better to the mechanic. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it was super helpful! Take care!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW X3 last summer. The door contact sensors were acting up just like yours, false warnings about open doors and the central locking system going haywire. Turned out the door latch wiring harness was damaged, causing intermittent connection issues. Had to get it checked at the garage when the problem kept getting worse. The mechanic found corroded connectors and a partially damaged cable in the driver's door. It wasn't a huge repair job, but definitely needed professional attention since it's connected to the car's security system. They had to replace the wiring harness and reset the control module. Worth getting it fixed soon because these door sensor issues can sometimes indicate more serious electrical problems if left unchecked. The whole job took about half a day to complete. Hope this helps give you an idea of what you might be dealing with.
