Hello, oh boy, that sounds incredibly familiar. How much did you pay for the repair back then, if you don't mind me asking? And have there been any further complications with the engine or anything like that since then? Thanks and best regards

Hello, don't worry, I can understand your frustration! Regarding your question, the repair for the defective camshaft sensor cost me €185. So, a decent sum, but since then my car has been running like clockwork. As you suspected, the problem was indeed the incorrect position of the crankshaft in relation to the camshaft. Once the mechanic had rectified the fault, all the symptoms disappeared. The engine doesn't make any more noise, is no longer rough and above all - no more annoying indicator light that lights up all the time! In short, since the fault was rectified, the car has been running perfectly. I hope this helps you! Best regards

Hello, thank you very much for the detailed answer. It really helped a lot. Good to hear that your car has been running great since then! That gives me a little hope. A few hundred euros might not be so nice, but that's part of it. It'll make my bank look snooty, haha. But if the car runs better afterwards, all that will be forgotten. So, thanks again, really nice of you! I'll get myself together to take my car to the garage and see what the mechanic has to say. The main thing is that the performance is good again and no more damage is done. See you around

Hi, I know exactly what you're talking about. I had something similar with my BMW X3 from 2012, the engine was also pretty rough and the check engine light was also on. In my case it was a problem with the camshaft adjustment. They had to replace the camshaft adjustment and some parts. This was something serious, as it could damage other parts of the car. What experience do I have with garages... Well, I found a garage that is very good. The people there know what they're doing and are there to help and advise you. It's never nice when the car has problems, but if you have a good garage, it's easier. Best regards
