Thanks for sharing your experience. That wiring harness issue sounds spot on, my symptoms are really similar. Mind if I ask how much the repair ended up costing you? Just trying to get a rough idea of what I might be looking at. Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other problems pop up? Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! Actually, I was wrong in my first response about the wiring harness, it was indeed the fuel pressure sensor that was acting up in my X3. Got it properly diagnosed and fixed about three months ago. The mechanic found that the cable connection to the sensor was defective, which was causing all those annoying symptoms we discussed. The fix was pretty straightforward, they replaced the faulty connection and the sensor itself. Total bill came to 95 € which wasn't too bad considering how much hassle it was causing. Since the repair, my X3's been running like a dream, no more stalling, stuttering, or that annoying jerky acceleration. It's amazing how such a small component can cause so much trouble! The check engine light hasn't come back on either, so I'd say it was definitely worth every penny. If your symptoms are as similar as they sound, I'd bet you're dealing with the same issue. Just make sure you get a proper diagnosis from a qualified mechanic who knows their BMWs.

Just got back from the mechanic, and wow, what a relief! Took your advice and found a BMW specialist. Turns out my issue was actually a combination of problems. The main culprit was a clogged fuel injector, and there was also a loose connection in the electrical system. The repair cost me more than yours, about three times as much, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The mechanic was super professional and even showed me the damaged parts. Plus, they did a thorough inspection and caught a few minor issues before they could become major problems. Took it for a test drive afterward, and it's like driving a completely different car! No more stuttering, stalling, or jerking. The engine purrs like it should, and the check engine light is finally off. Really appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction. Sometimes it pays to spend a bit more for quality service!

Hey there! I had nearly identical issues with my 2013 BMW X3 last year. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced, that jerky acceleration and stalling were a real pain. Turned out the problem wasn't the fuel pressure sensor in my case. The main culprit was a faulty wiring harness connecting to the fuel injector system. Some cables had worn out and were making poor contact. The connections were corroded and causing intermittent electrical issues. Got it fixed at a specialized garage, they had to replace the entire wiring harness assembly and clean up the connectors. It was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention since it could've led to complete engine failure if left unchecked. Not a DIY job for sure, you need proper diagnostic tools and expertise to pinpoint these electrical gremlins. My advice would be to find a reputable BMW specialist who can properly diagnose it. Unusual stalling isn't something you want to mess around with.
