Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful to know about the ISTA diagnostic system and the importance of genuine parts. I'm actually relieved to hear the clunking noise isn't something totally unusual, though obviously not good. I've already called my workshop and booked it in for next week. They mentioned they use BMW-specific diagnostic tools too, so that's reassuring. You know, I've been guilty of letting the car sit unused for longer periods lately since I've been working from home more. I had no idea that could affect the suspension system. I'll definitely make sure to take it for regular drives from now on. Really appreciate all the preventive maintenance tips, I'll make sure to get those regular suspension checks done during services too. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It's given me a much better idea of what to expect when I take it to the workshop. I'll update the group once I get it sorted!

Thanks for sharing your experience! My X1 just hit 88553 KM and had its latest service about a month ago. Yes, I'm actually hearing a weird clunking noise, especially when going over speed bumps or rough patches. And you're spot on, it definitely seems worse in the morning after the car's been parked overnight. It's good to know the repair wasn't astronomically expensive in your case. I'll definitely get it checked out asap. Would you mind sharing which diagnostic tools your workshop used? Also, did they mention anything about preventive measures for the future?
