Hey Mark, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Really good to know it wasn't something major in your case. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the whole thing? Also, just curious, have you had any other window issues since they fixed it? I'm feeling a bit more optimistic now hearing it might just be the switch rather than the whole regulator. Definitely sounds less scary than what I was imagining!

Hey there! Glad I could give you some peace of mind earlier! Just wanted to update, turns out I was totally right about the switch being the culprit. The mechanic fixed it last week, and it came to 200€ total, including parts and labor. Everything's working perfectly now, like it's brand new! And to answer your question, nope, haven't had a single window issue since they fixed it. The auto up/down feature works smoothly, no weird noises, no error codes, it's all good. Honestly, these BMW electrical gremlins can seem scary at first, but once you get them sorted with the right fix, they usually stay fixed. Looking back, I was probably stressing way too much about it initially. Just make sure you get a proper diagnosis and you should be fine. The switch replacement is way more common than people think on these models. Let me know how it goes with yours! Mark

Thanks for following up! Just got back from the mechanic myself and wanted to share what happened. You were spot on! Took it to a BMW specialist and they diagnosed it as a faulty switch too. The whole thing was way less painful than I expected. Spent about 250€ total, which included the diagnostic fee, parts, and labor. The mechanic was actually really great, explained everything clearly and even showed me the old switch. The best part? My windows are working perfectly now! No more error codes, and the auto function is smooth as butter. Such a relief it wasn't something more serious. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for your help, definitely saved me some sleepless nights worrying about this! Sometimes it's just good to hear from someone who's been through the same thing. Take care!

Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW X1 last year. Initially thought it was the regulator too, but turned out it was just a faulty master power window switch. The symptoms were identical, complete failure of all windows and an error code on the dash. The repair itself wasn't particularly complex. Took my car to the garage and they diagnosed it within an hour. They had to replace the main switch panel on the driver's door. The part itself was genuine BMW, and the whole job wasn't that serious, took about 2 hours total. Just make sure they test all windows individually after the repair. In my case, they also had to reprogram the auto up/down function, but that's standard procedure with BMW window switch replacements. Hope this helps with your situation. It's likely not as bad as you might think.
