Hey, exactly what happened to mine! Really good to hear someone else went through this. I'm curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the harness replacement? And has everything been running smoothly since the fix? Mine's been repaired for a few weeks now but I'm still a bit paranoid about every little noise I hear from the AC system.

Hey again! Glad I could help identify the issue! Just wanted to update you, my repair actually ended up being simpler and cheaper than the harness replacement I initially thought I needed. The mechanic found it was just a faulty cable connection to the rear ventilation flap, which only cost me 95 € to fix. Much better than I expected! Since getting it sorted, my AC has been working perfectly, no weird noises, no temperature issues, nothing. The rear controls are responding perfectly now too. I totally get being paranoid about every little sound (been there!), but honestly, once these electrical connections are properly fixed, they usually stay fixed. My X3's been running like a charm for months now. These BMWs are really solid cars once you get the little quirks sorted out. If you're still hearing noises that worry you, maybe just get it checked during your next regular service, but I wouldn't stress too much about it. These systems are pretty robust once they're properly repaired.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Actually, I finally got my X2 fixed last week and thought I'd update you on what happened. You won't believe it, turned out to be almost exactly what you described! The mechanic I found specializes in German cars and spotted the issue right away. The repair was way more straightforward than I expected. They found some corroded connections and a loose wire near the control module. Total bill came to about 120 bucks, what a relief after imagining all sorts of expensive scenarios! They even showed me the damaged parts and explained everything. The AC's working perfectly now, nice and cold, rear controls are back to life, and that annoying error code is gone. Feels good to have it sorted without breaking the bank. Thanks again for your help, it really gave me the confidence to get it checked out properly instead of just worrying about it. Now I can finally enjoy driving without constantly listening for weird AC noises!

Hey there! I actually faced similar AC problems with my 2018 BMW X3 last summer. The symptoms were nearly identical, complete loss of cooling and dead rear controls. After a thorough inspection at the garage, it turned out to be a faulty wiring harness connector to the climate control module. The connection had corroded over time, causing intermittent failures. The tech found multiple trouble codes related to the HVAC system. It wasn't a catastrophic issue, but definitely needed immediate attention since a bad connection could potentially damage other AC components. The repair involved replacing the wiring harness and cleaning the connection points. Your symptoms really sound like what I experienced, though it could also be the flap actuator you mentioned. Considering the mileage on your X2, these electrical gremlins can start showing up. I'd recommend getting it diagnosed at a certified BMW specialist who can properly scan the system.
