Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm facing pretty much the exact same symptoms, it started gradually over the past couple weeks. Mine's still fairly new with just 6042 KM on it, had its last service about 3 months ago. I'm getting error code P0531, which from what I understand points to the AC pressure sensor circuit. Really hoping it's just a wiring issue like yours and not the entire control module needing replacement. These electrical problems can be such a pain! Did your mechanic mention how common this issue is? Just curious if I should expect this to pop up again down the road.

Hey again! Yes, that P0531 code is different from what I had, but I know exactly what you're talking about. When my X1's issue started, I actually didn't have any error codes at first, they only showed up later when the problem got worse. From my experience and what my mechanic told me, the AC pressure sensor issues aren't super common but they do pop up occasionally in our models. In my case, the loose wiring was just the first symptom. About 6 months after that initial fix, I started getting the P0531 code too. Turned out the pressure sensor itself was failing. The good news is, since your car is still pretty new with low mileage, this might be covered under warranty. When I had the sensor replaced, it cost around 280 Euro including labor. But honestly, with those symptoms and that specific error code, you're probably looking at the sensor itself rather than just loose connections like I initially had. After getting the sensor replaced, I haven't had any issues for over a year now. One tip though, my mechanic suggested getting the AC system checked during regular service intervals to catch any potential issues early. Been doing that and it's worked well so far. Have you noticed any other symptoms? Like weird noises when the AC is running, or inconsistent cooling?

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! That's really helpful info about the pressure sensor. I haven't noticed any weird noises, but the cooling has definitely been inconsistent lately, sometimes it works fine for a few minutes before cutting out completely. I actually called the dealership right after reading your first response. You're right about the warranty, they confirmed it should be covered since I'm well within the 3-year warranty period. Got an appointment scheduled for next week. Really appreciate the tip about regular AC checks during service. I'll definitely add that to my maintenance routine going forward. It's comforting to know you haven't had any issues since getting the sensor replaced. Here's hoping mine will be just as straightforward to fix! Will update here after the dealer checks it out. Thanks again for sharing your experience, super helpful!

Hey there! I have some experience with BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW X1. The symptoms were almost identical, flickering climate control panel and no AC control. Took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed it as a loose connection in the control module wiring. Some cables had worked themselves loose over time. The fix wasn't too complex, they had to remove the panel, reseat the connections properly, and test everything. Cost me about 95 Euro for the whole job, including diagnostics. Can you tell me if you're getting any specific error codes? Also, has this started suddenly or was it gradual? That info would help determine if you're dealing with the same issue I had. These electrical gremlins can be tricky on modern BMWs. Let me know the details and I'll try to help more.
