Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! My X2 is running at 26565 KM since my last service, and I've been having this exact same cruise control headache. I had the error codes scanned at a local shop last week, but they suggested I might need to go to a BMW specialist. Was hoping to avoid that expense if possible! Really interesting about the loose wiring you mentioned, makes me wonder if that's what's going on with mine too. Did you notice any warning lights before your cruise control completely stopped working? Mine started acting up out of nowhere before failing completely.

Hey again! Thanks for sharing those details about your X2. When my cruise control issues started, I was actually around the 28000 KM mark, so pretty close to where you're at now. To answer your question, yes, I did notice some warning lights flickering on and off out of nowhere for about a week before the cruise control completely gave up. It would sometimes work fine for a short drive, then suddenly cut out. Super annoying! That's what made me initially think it might be something more serious (and expensive) than it turned out to be. While I know you're trying to avoid the BMW specialist costs, I got lucky with my simple wiring fix. Since you're experiencing such similar symptoms, it might be worth checking the wiring connections first. My regular mechanic showed me where the loose connection was, it's actually pretty accessible once you know where to look. Just be careful though, if it turns out to be something more complex with the control module itself, you might end up needing that specialist visit anyway. I've learned from experience that sometimes trying to save money upfront can cost more in the long run with these electronic issues. Let me know what you decide to do, really curious if it turns out to be the same problem!

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! You've actually made me feel a bit more optimistic about the whole situation. The similarities between our issues, especially the warning lights acting up before total failure, are really striking. I think I'll take your advice and have my regular mechanic check the wiring connections first, since that seems like the most logical starting point. The fact that yours was fixed without breaking the bank gives me hope! You make a really good point about being careful with electronics though. If my mechanic spots anything beyond his comfort zone, I'll bite the bullet and head to the specialist. Better safe than sorry, right? I really appreciate you walking me through your experience, it's given me a much clearer idea of what to look out for. I'll definitely update you once I get it checked out. Fingers crossed it's just a loose connection like yours was!

Hi there! I have some experience working on cars and had a very similar issue with my 2016 BMW X1 (also had a chance to work on an X3). Last month, my cruise control acted up just like yours, totally unresponsive with warning lights. Took it to my regular workshop where they diagnosed it as a faulty wiring connection to the cruise control module. The plug had worked itself loose over time and wasn't making proper contact. Total repair cost was 95 Euro, mainly labor for accessing the connection point and securing everything properly. Could you share more details about your specific error code? That would help confirm if it's the same electrical gremlin I dealt with. Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks lately? This could help narrow things down. The fix was pretty straightforward in my case, but always good to rule out other potential causes.
