Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you all! I took my X2 in yesterday, and you were spot on about the wiring issue. The mechanic found corroded cables under the seat, though in my case, it was a bit more extensive. Had to replace both the wiring harness and a small control unit. The whole thing cost me more than yours, around 280 bucks, but honestly, I'm just relieved it's fixed. They had it done in about 3 hours, and the massage function is working perfectly now. No more unusual activations or getting stuck! Really appreciate everyone's input here. It definitely helped me feel more confident about taking it to the shop, knowing what to expect. Had the same problem with my 2016 BMW X4 last winter. The massage function was acting up just like yours, unusual activation and wouldn't shut off. Turned out the connection cables under the seat were partially damaged, causing intermittent electrical signals. Got it checked at the garage, and they found that moisture had gotten into one of the main connectors, causing corrosion. The mechanic had to replace the wiring harness and the control module for the seat. Not a major mechanical issue, but definitely needed proper fixing to prevent further electrical problems. The repair wasn't too complex, but it took them about 4 hours to complete because they had to partially remove the seat to access the connections. If your issue is similar, make sure they check both the wiring and the control module, as either could be the culprit.
