BMW X2 Multiple Warning Lights, ECU System Failure?
Summary of the thread
A 2023 BMW X2 is experiencing multiple warning lights and error messages, suspected to be related to the emergency call system. The issues began suddenly after a recent service, suggesting a possible connection disturbance. Similar symptoms in another BMW were resolved by fixing a faulty cable connection to the emergency call module. It is recommended to return to the dealership, especially since the car is under warranty, to check for any loose connections that might have been disturbed during the service.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's still under warranty with 48965 KM on the clock. The issues started quite suddenly after my latest service two weeks ago. As for the error codes, I'm getting multiple ones, mostly communications-related like error 2AF6 and 2AF8. The weird part is they seem to come and go out of nowhere. Sometimes the warnings clear up for a few hours, then come back again. I'm thinking I should take it back to the dealership since they might have disturbed something during the service. The timing seems too coincidental, right? Just wanted to check here first to be better informed when I talk to them.

Hey again! Absolutely right about taking it back to the dealership, especially with that timing. When you mentioned the errors started after the service, it immediately reminded me of what happened with my X1. In my case, the intermittent errors were actually because the techs didn't properly secure a connector when they were doing routine checks. They had to access the area near the emergency call module during service, and well, you know how these things go, one slightly loose connection and the whole system gets cranky! Those error codes you're getting (2AF6 and 2AF8) are exactly what I saw on mine too. The unusual coming and going of the warnings is such a telltale sign of a loose connection rather than a completely failed component. Mine would sometimes work fine for half a day, then start acting up again. Since yours is still under warranty, you're in a much better position than I was. Definitely push them to do a thorough check of all connections they might have touched during the service. Pretty sure they'll sort it out quickly, it's likely just a simple fix like in my case. Just make sure to mention the timing correlation with the recent service. That's crucial info for them to trace back what might have been disturbed.

Thanks so much for the detailed response! You've actually made me feel a lot better about this whole situation. The fact that you experienced the same intermittent issues and error codes with your X1 is super reassuring. I've already called the dealership and booked it in for tomorrow morning. Made sure to mention everything we discussed, the timing after the service, the specific error codes, and the intermittent nature of the warnings. The service advisor seemed to know exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the emergency call module connection. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It's definitely helped me feel more confident about what to expect and what to discuss with the technicians. Will update the thread once I get it sorted, might help someone else with similar issues down the line!

Hey there! I have some experience working on BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW X1 last year. Can totally relate to those annoying warning lights popping up everywhere! Had the exact same symptoms, warning lights, error messages on both screens. Turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the emergency call module. My mechanic traced it back pretty quickly and replaced the damaged connector. Cost me around 95 Euro to fix, and everything's been working perfectly since then. To help you better, could you share: Are there any specific error codes showing up? Did these issues start suddenly or gradually? Have you had any recent work done on the car? The X series is pretty consistent with these systems, so it might be the same issue, but best to confirm with those details first.
