BMW X2 Window Failure: Regulator Issue Solutions Needed

Hey everyone! Having issues with my 2021 BMW X2 (gas, 121k km) and could use some advice. The power windows stopped working completely, and there's an error code related to window regulator initialization. Last time at the shop wasn't great, so I'm a bit hesitant about going back. Has anyone dealt with similar window problems on their X2? What was the actual issue and how much did the repair cost? Looking for honest feedback about repair experiences. Thanks in advance

I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X4 last winter. The power windows completely stopped responding, and I got those initialization error messages too. Initially thought it was just the window regulator, but when I took it to the garage, they found that the battery was seriously depleted. They explained that a weak battery can cause various electrical issues, including window malfunctions, since the car's computer system gets confused with inconsistent power supply. Had to get the battery replaced, and they also had to reprogram the window settings. Not a complex fix, but definitely needed professional diagnostic equipment. After the new battery installation, they had to do a proper initialization of all windows, basically running them up and down in a specific sequence. Everything's been working perfectly since then. The whole thing took about 2 hours to complete. Based on your symptoms, it sounds very similar to what I experienced. Better to get it checked soon before it affects other electrical components.

Thanks for sharing your experience, that's super helpful! I actually had the exact same symptoms with my X2 recently. Mind if I ask how much they charged you for the battery replacement and reprogramming? I'm trying to get a rough idea of what to expect. Also, curious if you've had any other electrical quirks pop up since the fix? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything when I take mine in.

Hey there! Happy to give you the specifics. The whole thing cost me 290 € for the battery replacement and reprogramming work, which included sorting out that annoying window regulator initialization message. I'd say it was worth every penny because everything's been working like a charm since then. The windows are now super smooth, no more error messages or quirky behavior. And to answer your question about other electrical issues, nope, haven't had a single problem since the fix. The mechanic explained that a healthy battery keeps all those fancy electronics working properly, and they were absolutely right. Just get it sorted sooner rather than later, it's amazing how one failing battery can mess with so many systems in these modern BMWs. The repair was straightforward and definitely fixed my window problems. My X4 is running perfectly now, and I'm sure your X2 will be back to normal once you get the battery sorted.

Just got back from the mechanic and I'm actually relieved! Took your advice and had them check it out. Turns out it really was the battery causing all the trouble. The whole thing set me back 310 €, which wasn't as bad as I feared. The mechanic was actually pretty great this time, totally different from my last experience. They showed me how the old battery was affecting the car's computer system and explained everything clearly. The best part? All the windows are working perfectly now, and that annoying error message is gone. Took them about 2.5 hours to get everything sorted, including the reprogramming. Really glad I asked here before going in, helped me know what to expect and not get taken for a ride. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It made me feel more confident about getting it fixed, and now I can actually use my windows again without any drama!
