Thanks for sharing that! Mine's a 2020 X3 with 185027 KM since my last service, and I'm getting a "Park Assist malfunction" error on the display. It started about a week ago, completely out of nowhere. The beeping just kicked in yesterday, which is really getting on my nerves now. I checked underneath and noticed some minor corrosion around one of the sensor connectors. Maybe it's facing the same wiring issue as yours? Really hoping it's just a connection problem and not the entire sensor unit that needs replacing.

Hey again! Yeah, after reading about the corrosion you found, it definitely sounds similar to what I experienced. When I had my X1 issue, I also noticed some corrosion around the connector before taking it in. The constant beeping is such a pain, right? I remember it driving me crazy too! Since you've got similar symptoms, I'm pretty confident it's related to the wiring or connector issue. In my case, the corrosion had worked its way into the connector, causing intermittent sensor failures. The funny thing is, my beeping also started a few days after the initial malfunction, just like yours. Given your mileage and the visible corrosion, I'd bet money it's the same problem. My mechanic mentioned these connectors are pretty vulnerable to moisture and road grime over time. The good news is that if it's just the wiring or connector, it's a relatively straightforward fix. Much cheaper than replacing the entire sensor unit! Have you noticed if the beeping gets worse when you drive through puddles or after rain? That was another telltale sign in my case. Let me know what you end up finding out, really curious if it turns out to be the same issue!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! You've actually made me feel a lot better about this whole situation. And yes, now that you mention it, the beeping does seem to act up more after driving in wet conditions! That's such a revealing detail I hadn't even considered. I've gone ahead and booked an appointment with my mechanic for next week. Showed him the photos of the corroded connector, and he seems to think it's exactly what you described, just a wiring/connector issue. He quoted me roughly the same price range as what you paid, which is such a relief. I was worried I'd be looking at replacing the entire sensor system! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It's helped me avoid a lot of unnecessary stress and potentially saved me from getting overcharged for a relatively simple fix. I'll definitely update you once it's sorted. Fingers crossed it's just that pesky connector!

Hey there! I can relate, I had a really similar issue with my 2018 BMW X1 last year. I have some experience working on cars, but sensors are definitely not my forte. My parking sensors were going crazy too, constant beeping and false alerts. After struggling with it for a few days, I took it to my regular workshop. Turned out to be a faulty wiring connection to one of the rear sensors. The mechanic found a damaged cable and plug that needed replacing. Total bill came to 95 Euro and took about an hour to fix. Before suggesting anything specific for your X3, could you tell me if you're getting any specific error messages on your display? Also, did this start suddenly or was it gradual? Knowing these details would help figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had.
